Winning 7 of 8 makes it hard for even this bunch to complain.

Does anyone else get annoyed how LA and NY hats get worn as fashion pieces
Quote:
Matheus Gustavo arrived for his second day of work at a hat shop in Rio de Janeiro wearing a black New York Yankees cap. His new job, for the most part, was selling Yankees hats. On the displays around him, about three out of four caps promoted that baseball team in the Bronx.
Yet Mr. Gustavo had a confession. He had worn a Yankees hat for years, he said, "but I never knew the real reason for the NY."
. . .
Just don't expect many Brazilians to understand what the hat means.
"It's American football? Or is it a brand?" said Carlos Henrique, 20, hawking Yankees caps off a metal rack he was carrying on Rio's Ipanema Beach. Either way, it was his best seller. "I just know it calls attention," he said. "And it looks good on everyone."
More than any other sports paraphernalia, the Yankees cap has become its very own fashion trend, unmoored from the sport or the team it represents. Lifted by starring roles in hip-hop videos, celebrity endorsements and collaborations with Gucci and Supreme, the hat has gone fully global, crossing borders to lands where mentions of Babe Ruth and Aaron Judge will elicit blank stares never mind trying to explain the "Evil Empire."
. . .
Artur Regen oversees Brazil for New Era, Brazil's largest and, he said, only licensed Major League Baseball hat seller. "Ninety-eight percent of Brazilians don't know it's a baseball team," he said. "New York is cool and they want to be associated with it."

How many, if any, of the deals would you do? Take the rest of their contract (they get $10 per arbitration year bought out) plus $25-30 until age 38. If you don't sign them for this, they walk at the end of their deal.
Kyle Tucker (age 26, last year in 2025) - 12/320
Yordan Alvarez (26, 2028) - 12/313
Cristian Javier (26, 2028) - 12/259
Alex Bregman (29, 2024) - 9/251
Framber Valdez (29, 2028) - 9/195
Jose Altuve (33, 2024) - 5/129
Is Tucker under control through 2025 or 2026?texasaggie2015 said:
He won't.
He might if we're throwing around 300+ M. We know the Astros aren't offering that.texasaggie2015 said:

We have him for 23, 24, & 25 for arbitration money.Wabs said:Is Tucker under control through 2025 or 2026?texasaggie2015 said:

Is there bad blood, or does he just plan on going to the highest bidder, and believes the Astros will not be the highest bidder?texasaggie2015 said:

I know that none of them wear it to support the teams, but that's not the point. I don't like those two teams getting their brand out world wide no matter the reasonFaustus said:https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/29/world/americas/yankees-caps-brazil.htmlLonestar_Ag09 said:

It's a little bit of both. Some has to do with the way the Astros treated his brother. I have no details on what went down but I'm just passing along what I heard. There's some other things too that I don't know enough about to share because I would hate to give bad info.scrimp said:Is there bad blood, or does he just plan on going to the highest bidder, and believes the Astros will not be the highest bidder?texasaggie2015 said:

I would love to make Altuve a lifelong Astro, but this recent string of injuries is really making me think about it.Farmer1906 said:
I really want to do Altuve, but that's a lot to sink into someone so old. I am torn here.

Seeing Altuve in a uniform that's not the Astros would be unfathomable. That absolutely must be an extension they make happen.

Just depends on the cost. I would hate seeing him in another uniform, but if his health is a concern and we have guys waiting in the week it's just something I'll have to deal with. It sucks but.. it's business.

Is there a way to hide instagram and Twitter posts on the mobile app? Some of the pics of ladies don't auto-hide when they are from instagram. I like it when I have the option to look or not look so it doesn't make me look like a pervert in public when looking at this thread.
