They are still trotting I didn't even care about Houston sports until some people I met while at A&M were from Houston and started talking **** about Dallas sports.

And I had the EXACT opposite experience. I didn't hate the Cowboys or Rangers growing up, I'm old enough to root for Staubach but when I got to A&M the obnoxious Dallas fans made me hate them with a passion. Of course I've now lived here for the last 30 years so I guess the jokes on me.

We need a starting pitcher. A month ago I would have said an additional bat would be needed but with the emergence of Abreu I think we'll be fine with:

1. Altuve
2. Bregman
3. Tucker
4. Alvarez
5. Abreu
7. Diaz
8. McCormick
9. Dubon

Batting order could flip flop some depending on other team's pitchers but if Dusty would wake up and play his best offensive players consistently this lineup is formidable. I didn't include Brantley due to today's news. Don't think he'll be back this year.

The thing about Dallas is their social circles are much more superficial than Houston.

The "I met a guy from Houston in college who hates Dallas teams and I never really cared about Houston" testimony is just a metaphoric gesture that other people care about them more than they care about others. It's a very Dallas social maneuver.

All the posters on the Rangers thread take turns saying it every few pages or so. It's kind of a rite. New people have to say it to fit in. Legacy posters say it periodically as a way of reinforcing their fit.

The reality is that we all know someone from college who didn't like Houston or Dallas teams. Houston people are just less likely to continuously feel the need to express it as a means of fitting in.

The other reality is that the only relevant sports story to come out of either city the last decade is the Astros. I honestly don't blame them for being bitter about that.
