another great thing about the Astros' win today...

the 'stros take a 4-3 lead in the season series

there are no more game 163's

so these tiebreakers are very important

He's only 19 in high A ball as well. Looking very legit.

Dusty has no defense for playing Maldy at this point. It's just a man ignoring the facts. He has convinced himself of an absolute lie.

If alive today, Hans Christian Andersen would write a story on him... something about a leader wearing invisible clothes.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

I was trying to remember this earlier today and whether the tiebreakers changed. Thanks.

Beilak better not throw batting practice, can't afford to stress the bullpen yet again.

He's been perfectly fine as our 7/8 starter. He'll eat innings

Dana Brown should be fired if he trades McCormick. I was concerned when they let Springer walk and I haven't been the biggest McCormick guy, but he looks like the everyday CF to me. If they trade him now, after ignoring cf in free agency? Woof.

Meyers should be at risk of trading, but I don't think we need to change our offense. I would try and secure additional pitching

Dana better be talking to him...loudly, about shifting Diaz to catching the majority of games and also telling Espada to be more forceful in letting Dusty know when to yank a pitcher.

Of course, this all comes back to Dusty's worst trait, his stubbornness, which is on steroids now that he finally has a ring. We can't wait for Yordan to return to take the DH and let Diaz start catching, every game counts and we can't have that ****ing noodle bat and pass ball catching albatross screw up any more games.

I looked at defensive stats earlier. Can't remember the metric, but Maldy was ahead of only two other catchers that play full time. He has to be at least league average with no offense. Give us something.

I'm guessing SP has risen to the top of our needs with Javy seemingly losing it. I think he can (and will) re-gain it but wonder if that will happen this year. Still think we need to also add a bat, but SP seems to be the bigger need now.

It's funny you think Diaz will catch when Yordan comes back. Get prepared for Yordan to DH and Maldy to continue catching anyway.

This is exactly why I'm fine with Pena struggling a bit with his bat. SS and catcher are the two positions where defense usually trumps offense but now with Maldy letting pass balls go by left and right and only throwing out as many runners as Diaz there's no metric that any manager could use to play him regularly other than just saying "fan stuff." Infuriating!!

I really thought the hernia and broken hand or whatever it was with Maldy would mean he would have a nice bounce back this year...that is LONG gone. It's time for a come to Jesus talk with him and his severe limitations.

Oh believe me, I almost put in a qualifier when I posted that and yes, I fully expect the donkey to keep trotting Moldy out there when Yordan returns.

So for those scoring at home, from now on I will now refer to Dusty as donkey and Maldy as Moldy. We good?

Once again, Dana needs to DFA Maldy during the ASB and call Lee up. Or work a trade and bring Perez from KC in here. Maldy gives this team nothing and is a black hole at the plate.

To me the positions that should be locked down right now

1B - Abreu
2B - Altuve
3B - Bregman
SS - Pena
RF - Tucker
CF - Chas
LF - Dubon
DH - Yordan
C - Diaz

That should be your starting 9. Rotate Dubon around and give other guys DH spots if you want to give them "rest"

Trade for a starter and reliever. Maybe a cheap lefty off the bench bat but you can roll with that starting lineup and be successful

Definitely...happy to be the first to star your post.

I thought it was interesting that when Chaz was interviewed yesterday by the babe Julia that he made sure to mention "working on stuff in the cage." I sure hope that gets back to the donkey.

Would love, love, love to have Salvador Perez. The problem is that he just signed a 4-year $82 million contract. That might cost the Astros twice- in prospects and payroll. I'm not sure that fits with Diaz as a primary catcher or the team cost in the coming years.

And like clockwork, the Rangerette thread has devolved to the "Astro Aggies are little men" tripe.

When you get that ass whipped, go home and cry to mama. Well, at least they're used to it.

The fact that he is still trotting Maldonado out there everyday is mind boggling. He isn't good at anything.

Agree. Only thing I would add is if Brantley is healthy, you work him in there somewhere.

They are still trotting I didn't even care about Houston sports until some people I met while at A&M were from Houston and started talking **** about Dallas sports.

This is the same tired bull**** that gets posted on here all the time . I grew up in Houston never hated Dallas until recently with the rangers fans are the biggest asshats and talk major **** for having accomplished nothing .

Remember when the Rangers were on like a .622 pace after all those tough series against the Royals and A's?

Down to .588.

also interesting to check in with the Rays (57-30)...

Tampa got off to a sizzling 27-6 start to the season

but is 30-24 in the last 2 months

the Braves have passed them for best record in MLB

My buddy that works for HPD got called in to work tomorrow's 4th of July festival so he's selling two tickets in the Ultra Club for $30/each for tomorrow's 3:10 game against Colorado. He said it's the two seats on the end in its own box away from everyone else. PM me if interested and I'll pass along his info.
