Dusty doesn't know if Yordan had an MRI.

Random stat I noticed.... Colorado has the 1st, 2nd, and 5th most IP from a reliever (no starts).
Jake Bird - 42 IP (31 games)
Brent Suter - 39.1 IP (28 games)
Justin Lawrence - 36.1 IP (30 games)

For comparison, the Astros have 2 in the top 50.
22. Phil Maton - 31.2 (28 games)
23. Bryan Abreu - 31.2 (31 games)

Apparently, the Yankees learned nothing last season with their BP injuries. They have 4 in the top 50 with Michael King leading the way with 36 IP in only 21 games. To be fair, he's never got on back-to-back nights and 10 of his 21 games have been with 3 or 4 days rest.

With 3 starters out we should be kicking the tires on anyone with a pulse.

I would love that. Bring him back to see what he's got. If it means taking starts away from Bielak, its not going to matter.

How cool would that be to come back and resurrect your career with the franchise that gave you your start.

That b/c he's an unprofessional chode gobbler.

Well, he's an unprofessional journalist...but is a pro at chode gobbling.

Dude is on the money here. Dusty ought to know whether he's had one or not. He's only, like, the best hitter on a team struggling offensively. And it's bull**** for Dusty to direct him to someone whom journalists do not have access to ask the question. Do your jerb, old man! Or, preferably, leave.

I understand why fans want injury updates. However, I don't understand why fans also want the enemy to have that same information.

I don't want the Astros to disclose any injury information more than necessary. The organization's policy should we say we don't answer questions about injuries until necessary. Has always seemed dumb to me to readily let your opponents know if they are going to be facing a guy or not before you have to disclose.

Also - I don't believe for one damn second Dusty doesn't know anything about his best player.

I don't want injury updates and I get why they so hush hush on them.

I just don't want the manager to come off as a complete buffoon by saying 'Uh...Yeah...I don't know' and pawning it off onto someone who doesn't speak to the media. Just say 'We're not gonna disclose that info. We're working with the training staff to get him back but we're gonna keep those discussion internal'.

Don't treat us like idiots.

First off, let me apologize if my post came off as condescending. I did not mean it that way. My post was just saying what I prefer, which is the organization to not give injury updates until absolutely necessary. It was for me and I didn't think it was essentially calling anyone an idiot.

I agree with you that Dusty's answer was pretty rude and unprofessional. My post wasn't about if Dusty was rude or not though.

You also said what I said - the organization should have a standard answer that they won't answer injury related questions until necessary.

Anyway - not something I want to get hung up on, so again, I apologize if my tone was one of talking down.

I was clarifying that its not the fact we don't get all the info it's how Dusty delivers the message.

Looking at that graphic really makes you appreciate the last 8 years here in Houston. It's so, so hard to find sustained success in this league.
To be honest, it's why I find the win at all cost, go all in every year mentality to be flawed. Yes, I'd like to win the WS each year, but sustained success is how you build a fanbase and a more profitable team.

Royals fans love the 2015 WS, but 8 years later it looks like they are nowhere near competitive in a super weak AL Central. I'd rather be able to make it to the postseason year after year, and then let the chips fall since anything can happen. The Astros should know from experience from 2019, 2021, and 2022 that teams without the best record can make the WS, and even win it.

Also, you have to give a lot of credit to Crane for these past 8 years too. He's pushed a lot of chips on the table at the right time and walked away from a hand that probably isn't a winner with his GMs. An owner who knows when it's best to be aggressive and when it's best to walk away is the reason windows stay open. Let's hope Dana does an excellent job and Crane continues to make the right moves.

Yes, I agree in general…

But I'd rather be a Royals fan than any of the teams above them on that list without a title.

I'd rather win one WS every 30 years with a lot of trash in between like the Royals than be the Rangers (or, to be fair, the pre-2017 Astros).

So this could be a pretty important stretch here.

We're at home going against some beatable teams and the Rangers are in a bit of a pickle with their pitching right now going with a some scrub on a piggyback start and a possible BP game tomorrow. And the Angels are playing some decent ball lately.

Could be a perfect time to make a move on them in standings and get some good momentum.
