Or you could put Maldy at C and Yainer at DH, and move Jake and Chas up a spot

Astros manager Dusty Baker had no meaningful update on Yordan Alvarez other than that he’s still sore. Baker said he didn’t know whether Alvarez had an MRI.
— Danielle Lerner (@danielle_lerner) June 13, 2023
Baker also said the Astros will have an update Wednesday on Lance McCullers Jr., who is being further evaluated today.

Dusty doesn't know if Yordan had an MRI.
Dusty baker said he did not know whether Yordan Alvarez had an MRI. He said even if he did, he couldn’t say, citing HIPAA. Told that other teams reveal players had imaging done all the time, Baker said to ask trainer Jeremiah Randall. The Astros do not make Randall available

2/6 Dallas is hitting 90mph in live BP and holding 87-89mph for typical 3-4 inning sessions.
— Chris Langin (@LanginTots13) June 12, 2023
Notably, even in years where he averaged ~90mph, reaching mid-80s outside of a game environment was rare for Keuchel.
It's conceivable that in-game adrenaline could add an extra 1-2mph. pic.twitter.com/PYYPGkCrfK
4/6 Keuchel's pitching arsenal has evolved a bit as well.
— Chris Langin (@LanginTots13) June 12, 2023
He's resurrected his sweeper, a pitch not used more than 12% of the time since 2018, and enhanced his cutter's shape, sacrificing ~1mph for added depth and an extra 2-4 inches of sweep. pic.twitter.com/cpgnji7NNX
6/6 Final thought: I find it unlikely that Dallas Keuchel's intangible 'edge', which enabled him to outperform expectations for his first 1,400 big league innings, evaporated in his last 200.

Chandler sounds so polar opposite than that

I understand why fans want injury updates. However, I don't understand why fans also want the enemy to have that same information.Buck Compton said:

I don't want the Astros to disclose any injury information more than necessary. The organization's policy should we say we don't answer questions about injuries until necessary. Has always seemed dumb to me to readily let your opponents know if they are going to be facing a guy or not before you have to disclose.f1ghtintexasaggie said:Buck Compton said:

Dude is on the money here. Dusty ought to know whether he's had one or not. He's only, like, the best hitter on a team struggling offensively. And it's bull**** for Dusty to direct him to someone whom journalists do not have access to ask the question. Do your jerb, old man! Or, preferably, leave.

I'll be sure to pick up both for you. What's that equal? Some ECBP? Stagg Jr?

Also - I don't believe for one damn second Dusty doesn't know anything about his best player.
First off, let me apologize if my post came off as condescending. I did not mean it that way. My post was just saying what I prefer, which is the organization to not give injury updates until absolutely necessary. It was for me and I didn't think it was essentially calling anyone an idiot.Ag_07 said:Beat40 said:I don't want the Astros to disclose any injury information more than necessary. I don't want injury updates and I get why they so hush hush on them.
I just don't want the manager to come off as a complete buffoon by saying 'Uh...Yeah...I don't know' and pawning it off onto someone who doesn't speak to the media. Just say 'We're not gonna disclose that info. We're working with the training staff to get him back but we're gonna keep those discussion internal'.
Don't treat us like idiots.
Yes, I agree in general…Beat40 said:To be honest, it's why I find the win at all cost, go all in every year mentality to be flawed. Yes, I'd like to win the WS each year, but sustained success is how you build a fanbase and a more profitable team.texasaggie2015 said:
Looking at that graphic really makes you appreciate the last 8 years here in Houston. It's so, so hard to find sustained success in this league.
Royals fans love the 2015 WS, but 8 years later it looks like they are nowhere near competitive in a super weak AL Central. I'd rather be able to make it to the postseason year after year, and then let the chips fall since anything can happen. The Astros should know from experience from 2019, 2021, and 2022 that teams without the best record can make the WS, and even win it.
Also, you have to give a lot of credit to Crane for these past 8 years too. He's pushed a lot of chips on the table at the right time and walked away from a hand that probably isn't a winner with his GMs. An owner who knows when it's best to be aggressive and when it's best to walk away is the reason windows stay open. Let's hope Dana does an excellent job and Crane continues to make the right moves.
