Seems like we traded a need at 3B for a need at catcher.

The need at catcher was not a great, but our catchers ranked 28th in on-base percentage, 23rd in OPS and 26th in offensive bWAR last year. That position was a big gaping hole in the order last season.

We haven't had a good hitting catcher since Napoli was here. Needed to fill that hole.

We still need a outfielder and a starting pitcher. I don't think Perez is what they had in mind for the rotation. He's gotta earn his spot ( hopefully).

Not sure Rangers think we need another SP. May try going into spring training with all the young arms and seeing who rises to the top.

I'd prefer a more seasoned arm, but there's a limit to the FA money and we no longer can complain the team has been cheap.

I think the most likely avenue for a SP at this point is via a trade. We have an abundance of middle infielders in the minors, and can also give up a catcher (Trevino or even Huff for the right pitcher). I hope if they go that route (trading away prospects) that they do better than a Jordan Lyles-type....IMO we would need to get at least a 2 or 3 type guy if we're trading away someone like a Foscue or Harris.

So the Twins moved Garver to get IKF and then moved IKF and Donaldson to get Gio and Gary Sanchez. I guess the Yankees are out on Correa and Story.

Where is Story going? Is he going anywhere? I don't think he'll be back with Colorado but his options are drying up. I guess he could still land in Houston if they whiff on Correa. Who else is looking for a SS?

Rangers have Seager.
Mets have Lindor.
Tigers got Baez.
Cubs signed Simmons to a 1 year deal.
Yankees get IKF.
Correa and Story are all that is left. Right?

At this point, I could see Correa staying in Houston and Story staying in Colorado. At least for another year or two.

With Garver being an A2 in 2022, we have him another season.

Could that push Sam Huff to 3B or 1B?

Do we go with Apostel or Ibanez at 3B?

I think the additions of Seager and Semien will make others in the lineup perform better. Adolis Garcia and Mitch Garver give us a solid 4 guys.

Some of the guys like Lowe, Solak, Calhoun, and Ibanez suddenly get better on Offense and might provide some trade value mid-season.

Couldn't help but notice this scrolling through twitter. IKF looks like a totally different person. Still don't know how the Yankees get away with forcing the no facial hair deal, but they're the Yankees, so it works.

Selfishly, I'd love to sign Castellanos just to see if the Rangers announcers could sneak in an occasional "I may never put on this headset again" after calling one of his HRs.
