This thread has evolved into the celebration of the strikeout and the men who do it better than anyone. Today, tomorrow, last season, last century, it doesn't matter. If you have the skill to continuously swing and miss at the baseball, you've got a home in this thread.gigem1223 said:
Hopefully this post doesn't get deleted too
Have the goalposts moved from MLB strike out records to current strike out leaders? Here's a crazy stat, Gallo could end up leading the league in strike outs while also leading the league in OBP.
Joey Gallo is the straw that stirs the drink, though. I'm hoping he sets all kinds of records and rare accomplishments this year. He deserves them. If they ever remake Major League, I want him to play the guy that Pete Vukovich in the original - the big slugger from the Yankees that Wild Thing strikes out to win the one-game playoff to win the AL East.
At year's end, I'm going to have a video montage up of Joey's strikeouts set to "Nobody Does It Better" from 'The Spy Who Loved Me." and "Simply the Best" by Tina Turner.
As I procrastinate further into the night against actual work, the last few days of the Joey Gallo Celebration thread weigh heavy on my heart. Perhaps we've lost our way in this thread, and anti-Astro and anti-Ranger sentiment is tainting the true force of nature that is the power of the almighty whiff. Perhaps I, as thread starter, can be the first one to reach out to you, extending the olive branch made out of a shattered Louisville slugger, with the idea that in these turbulent times, we are not so different, you and I. We both like baseball, we both like fun, we both like Joey Gallo, although perhaps for different reasons. I think my feelings are accurately summed up by the once an future heavyweight champion of the world.
