The Dodgers franchise right is just all around ridiculously stacked.

Last night Ozzie Albies became the first big leaguer born in 1997.

Nick Markakis got hit # 2,000 last night to become the 10th active player to achieve that.

Markakis is a very interesting case and perhaps unique to MLB.

he has never been an all-star in his 12-year career (according to baseball reference). Never finished in the top 25 of MVP voting. And in only 1 season has he hit over .300.

However he broke into the bigs at age 22 and has been very, very, very healthy and consistent.

in 9 of his big league seasons he has played between 155 and 161 games...and logged a minimum of 684 plate appearances in those 9 years.

which leads to the question...is he a Hall of Famer if he reaches 3,000 hits in a rather nondescript career?

I suppose at a minimum he may hold the MLB record for most career hits by a player that has never been an all-star

If he would have played in NY or Boston though, he would be a first ballot

He had a year where he hit 3 homers in 686 PAs, that's unfathomable
