I could have sworn I saw Wemby there on his first couple of dunks. In fact, I didn't see Fox originally and only saw Harper, Wemby, and Castle.

There was a tall guy behind them that looked like Wemby originally but it was someone else.

I'm sure spurs beat writers will be on top of it asking Wemby what's up though.

G-League or not, league should have paid him whatever he wanted to come dunk again this year. The guy brings it and keeps it relevant. I was obviously rooting hard for Carter, but this was definitely one of those years that felt a bit stale. It's tough to be constantly creative, but variations on between the legs, windmill etc. do not capture the imagination of the crowd. (Although in slow-motion some of these dunks today were really amazing, just hard to see in real-time)

It was every other Spur that was invited to LA. (Fox, Castle and Harper)

I don't think the other poster is trying to stir up trouble here, but I also found it odd because Wemby has been at these events the last couple of years and the team does seem to have that special kind of connectivity that makes you assume that he would have been there.

Wouldn't surprise me if he had endorsement obligations. This is peak time for all those companies.

These dunks were all better than last year, when it was Mac pushing down on the ball jumping over someone 5 different ways to get more lift. Those don't excite me that much. Especially when it is just variations of the same thing.

The league either needs stars in there or needs to just have the sideshow guys like Mac or whatever other insane athlete that can't make the league but will do fun stuff. But the stars don't want to compete against the sideshow guys.

Which of the following is more likely based on everything we have seen from Wemby?

1. He didn't want to go support his team mate for any number of reasons.
2. He had other obligations like media, marketing, sponsorships, commercials to film, endorsements, physical therapy, etc.

They are All Stars, not God. They can't just say they want something and it happens. They sign contracts that require them to appear for things.

There is no way the NBA or owners want to abolish the draft and it is something that would take like a decade to do anyway because draft picks are traded so far out.

Then it also makes trades and stuff way more complicated when draft picks are a major currency.

It definitely won't be happening, but it would be funny to see what rookies value assuming there is some sort of base rookie scale free agent contract that equalizes their pay.

Do they sign with a really bad team to maximize PT?

Do they sign somewhere close to home? Or care about winning?

Do they envision a specific role (3 and D) and search out a team that will develop them for that?

Would it be like musical chairs? Like each team can sign only 2 rookies per year, then we'd get some hilarious examples of everyone courting Cooper Flagg and ignoring Ace Bailey before having to sheepishly come back to him and pretending like they wanted him all along making him even more emo than he already is.

Or maybe it's like international signings with MLB where each team has a pool and either allocates it to 5 lower level guys or swings big with one high end guy?
