OK, I looked it up. Memphis is about 5 under the cap as of now. They have a QO on Ed Davis for 4 and a team option on Koufos for 3. They need 4 players (which could include Davis and Koufos) to field a full roster.

Gasol/Gasol/Randolph are all tough individually, but you can pretty much jam the paint and ignore the three point line. They need shooters a lot more than another big with a midrange jumper.

Yeah Pau doesn't make much sense for them, I agree.

If Houston whiffs on everything they want then they could go after Pau. Miami could elect to offer the MLE to Pau if he ends up willing to take less money to go to a winner.

If it came down to him taking the MLE I think he would be most interested in SA though. Especially considering this is most likely Duncan's final season coming up.

I bet Duncan plays both seasons he is signing for. How ridiculous would it be for him to end his career with a three-peat? Especially after so many idiots said his titles were some how less impressive because they didn't come in back-to-back seasons.
Sher Thing

He didn't sign 2 more years. He just picked up his option for next year so he's only on the books 1 more year. My guess is it's his last year.

I had heard reports that he opted out and was taking a 2y16mm. Guess those were bogus.

Yeah, didn't happen.

Looking at the roster and what's out there , Josh McRoberts probably tops my wish list of possible candidates.

I think he will get better offers than what the spurs can give him though. Guy would be perfect for our system though.

Spurs also extended their qualifying offer to Aron Baynes making him a restricted free agent.

They have until Tuesday to pick up the option or renounce the rights to Austin Daye. No word on that front yet.

Notable guys missing who the spurs currently own rights to are:

Davis Bertans (F Latvia) 42nd pick 2011
Adam Hanga (G Turkey) 59th pick 2011
Nemanja Dangubic (F Serbia) 54th pick 2014
Livio Jean-Charles (F France) 28th pick 2013

These guys are all under contract in Europe at the time.

Unlikely any of those names make it onto the 13-man roster, other than Anderson of course.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You can carry 15 players on a roster but I agree. Only other name that's somewhat intriguing is Bryce Cotton but that would only make sense if Patty were to leave.

Good news is looks like Anderson will get plenty of chances to have the ball in his hands.

No surprise but spurs make qualifying offer to baynes.

Looks like the Spurs are picking up the option on Daye and guaranteeing his deal for next year.

Im mildly surprised by this move. I thought they might let him go and save some money after selecting Kyle Anderson. Looking more and more like it's the end of the road for Bonner in SA.

Assuming the Spurs can keep Patty and Boris, they will be at 14 roster spots already. Someone is already going to be regulated to a suit every game.

I wish the spurs were active in trying to move Ayres. There's so many better options then him.

I trust in Pop. A lot of people were down on Tiago after year 1 and look where he's at now. Maybe the coaches see something in him.

Or maybe he just sucks compared to NBA talent.

That's an awesome video in LawHall's link. Kyle wanted to be a Spurs. Great to see his family and friends so excited for him, and him so emotional to become a Spur.

Like The Admiral set on twitter, luckiest guy in the draft.

I haven't seen a vid of Anderson posted yet so here we are

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgKDPE8X5IM

(the annoying effects stop ~50 seconds in)

He is a really interesting player on offense.
-He's not at all fast or explosive, but he's long and he uses his length perfectly to put up shots from positions where defenders don't have a good shot at the ball. His layups are also impossibly long. It seems like he's taking his first steps behind the FT line.
-He's got a really nice Nowitzki-esque fade away, which is basically unguardable with him standing at 6'9.
-It's a highlight reel, but his court vision and passing seem to be as good as advertised. There are some really good assists in that video.

He really does seem to be moving in slo-mo all the time, so I am worried about his D, but I trust that Pop will put him in positions that he can handle.

Looks like Portland is going to make a push for Diaw. This kind of worries me. I'm not sure what their cap space is like but there would be comfort there with Batum.
Guitarsoup
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Portland only has the MLE and are over the cap, even if they let Mo Williams walk away for nothing. TheMarcus, Batum and Matthews make more than Duncan/Parker/Manu.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Portland is reportedly looking at Hawes, McRoberts and Diaw. They aren't zeroed in on Boris like they were Tiago.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Spurs reportedly linked to Shaun Livingston, Sebastian Telfair and Rashard Lewis so far. Who knows if these reports are accurate though.

Shaun Livingston is actually an interesting option. I just don't see where he fits with our crowded roster but he would be nice in our system.
GatorAg03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Those all sound like options only if Diaw or Mills leave.

I am completely fine with the Spurs bringing back the exact same team, but you always have to be aware of what other teams are doing. Dallas, Houston and the Clips are looking for potentially big additions and OKC, the Blazers and the Griz are worth watching. If they pull off a game changing type signing the Spurs don't want to go into possibly Duncan's last year as an underdog.

If Leonard, Green and Mills develope just a bit and guys like Belenelli, Daye and Baynes understand the system just a little better, then the Spurs could be even better than last year, if they all stay healthy.

OKC still scares me the most our of the west. Ibaka and an improved Adams may give the Spurs some problems and it will be almost impossible for them to not have a better bench than last year.

I still think the Spurs need to find one more serviceable big that is at least somewhat of a scoring threat/defensive presence.

OKC adding depth and Lebron moving to the West are the only external factors I'm worried about.
Sher Thing

Kent Bazemore is the latest name being linked to the Spurs.

Hard to take these rumors seriously though. Agents are always throwing the Spurs around as being linked to their clients in order to drive up value.

Don't you know that the East is hoping that Miami's Big 3 head west, especially LeBron.

Pretty much what some of us have been saying. Highlyyyyyy unlikely Pau takes MLE money like some thought.

Probably trying to get a backup plan in place incase patty gets one of these insane offers like Meeks just got.
