I haven't been a Shaq fan since his foul mouthed, Garnett like, juvenile four letter tirades against D. Rob and other Spurs back in the day so my .02 are biased but it is pretty obvious that he and Chuck don't vibe and it often adds tension, dead air and clumsy dialogue to the show.

They've meshed a little better as the season has gone on but that show is nowhere near as funny and light hearted as it was prior to his arrival.

Go Spurs!

KD with 1 made fourth quarter field goal in the first two games combined. People already claiming he is the best in the league, so when do the LBJ haters start being consistent with their criticism?

He can't shoot if Westbrook won't pass it to him.

Nice post, Sher Thing. That was a great shot by Manu.

My thoughts on last night:

1. OKC's Big 3 played about as well (as a group) as they could possibly play. 88 points combined!!! They were better about getting to the rim at times, but still were forced to make lots of outside shots, many contested, and they just flat out made them!

2. OKC played hard most of the night. Westbrook chased Parker all over the place. Their offensive rebounding was superb in the 1st half. And into the 4th quarter their defense was running to the ball, switching off the pick and roll, etc... really showed great energy.

Didn't matter! And not only that, at one point in the game it was laughable what the Spurs were doing to that team! OKC never gave up and man they are super talented... but in the end it just didn't matter. I think OKC might have played the best game they are capable of right now, but they are playing a team that, for the moment, is just at another level.

Yet again the Spurs ran up a big lead then lost focus a little and let them back into it. On one hand, it's not good to lose focus. On the other hand, it's almost like the Thunder aren't quite good enough to really worry the Spurs. I think the Thunder will win at least one in OKC, but it's hard to imagine them winning the series or even coming close to it. Tim Duncan hasn't even had a good offensive game yet.

This Spurs team has shown a ridiculous ability to "flip the switch" and dominate long stretches of games any time they choose. Look no farther than the 24 point comeback. The Clippers got that huge lead when the Spurs came out disinterested, but then they decided to start playing and the rest is history. The dangerous part is when they start coasting with a lead.

This series is still very much in doubt. OKC's big 3 are playing well, and OKC is playing very hard. That team is the franchise of the next decade, if the big 3 stay together, and healthy. I could see three Heat/Thunder finals over the next ten years.

The biggest hope for the thunder is that the main issue in the series all along has been their insistence on putting ibaka and Perkins on the court at the same time, which always creates a mismatch. If they decide to go small like they did late in game 2 when they went on their run, it could improve their chances.

They went small with Perkins at 5 and Durant at 4 in game 1 when the Spurs destroyed them down the stretch.

When they went small late in game 1, they couldn't keep Ginobili from getting easy layups. Scott Brooks took a lot of criticism for doing exactly what you suggest. At least late in game 2 the Spurs had to settle for more jumpshots.

The Thunder's best success so far has come when they protected the rim with Perkins/Ibaka, let their guards clog passing lanes with those long arms, and had scoring help from role players. They've got to play their best game rather than trying to match San Antonio's lineups; the Spurs have more depth and versatility (plus Pop), so a chess match favors the Spurs.

Perkins was also the big they chose to have in the game, which didn't help. Ibaka can cover ground much quicker.

OKC Radio Station- The Thunder were riding a nice winning pace when San Antonio came into town and hit them with a nuke.....

They were hopeful for a win but the host pretty much stated Spurs are the better team right now.

The more time KD, RW, Harden, Ibaka and Sefolosha spend on the floor together, the greater the Thunder's chances improve. Leaving an ice-cold Fisher and a lead-footed Perkins in way too much yesterday doomed them.

poor Duncan. First his little boy rejects him and then Perkins and Ibaka do the same to him.

That clip got cut off early, but his boy went over and hugged Manu after rejecting Timmy.

Why is it that it's always considered losing focus of you lose a lead.

The spurs got on an incredible roll and extended the lead on OKC. Scott Brooks made a change in scheme twice. Hacking Splitter and then sitting Perkins and going smaller and quicker.

The spurs didn't get lazy or have a brain fart. OKC made a couple adjustments that the spurs had to respond to.

Here's the Ginobili behind the back to Parker for 3 play

The way the crowd wound up while Parker was lining up + shooting, and the way they exploded when it went down, was epic.

Good luck convincing these Spurs fans on that.

I agree with that statement. Hack-a-Tiago completely threw off the Spurs groove.
Ulrich

It wasn't all the Spurs losing focus, but that was part of it. They've done it a number of times this year. They get a big lead and start dribbling instead of passing.

Agree w/ you completely that the Lebron haters are way off, but this is still a really stupid comment. Great job understanding sample size.

Durant is 4th in scoring for the playoffs at 27 ppg. Filtered for 4th quarter only:

1st round:

1. Lebron James – 8.5 PPG
2. Tony Parker – 8.0 PPG
3. Dirk Nowitzki – 8.0 PPG
4. Kevin Durant – 7.5 PPG
5. Carmelo Anthony – 7.4 PPG

2nd round:

1. Lebron James – 10.0 PPG
2. Kobe Bryant – 9.0 PPG
3. Kevin Durant – 8.5 PPG
4. James Harden – 8.0 PPG
5. Kevin Garnett – 7.0 PPG

There is little or no logic in most discussions of "clutchness". Hero ball and quantity are romanticized while efficiency and making the right basketball play are ignored.

That said, the Thunder need to get the ball out of Westbrook's hands and have Durant and Harden taking shots at the end of the game.
