I think Gino's late charge was a third TO, but could be wrong. Either way, that was huge

Russel's postgame atire is Sageresque. Except Sager doesn't where unnecessary glasses.

I honestly believe the biggest factor in OKC getting titles over the next few years will be Westbrook pulling his head out of his ass...

I am not surprised with what we saw in the 4th quarter. First of all, Popovich is going to run circles around Scott Brooks in this series. And just like last year the OKC offense looks awful when they play a team that's really good defensively. Spurs did a great job at limiting Durant/Westbrook's looks in the lane and when Westbrook did get into the paint he was out of control. It might go six... but I doubt the Spurs even fear the Thunder at this point.

OKC relies on easy buckets in transition, only turning it over a few times in the second half means they have to run actual offense in crunch time. Not a strong point.

I honestly think they would be better off having harden initiate all their offense in the clutch.

Game 1 down, but each game is going to be a battle. I really think that the Thunder will need big games from Harden, Durant, and Westbrook in order to beat the spurs. I don't see that happening 4 times.

The spurs are too deep, have too many scoring options. Last night it was Manu, but it could be Timmy or Tony next, all while the bench keeps pouring in the points.

The thing that baffled me last night as I was watching Manu get to the hoop over and over again was where was Ibaka? In the first half Tony, Manu and others were getting thrashed as they went to the hoop. In the 4th, Brooks was letting Pop play a small lineup and he should have been countering with his best lineup (KD, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, and Perkins). It also doesn't help when your offense basically boils down to jump shots when the game slows down. The crowd was louder than I've ever heard it and instead of taking risky jumpers, KD and Westbrook should have been going to the hoop.

I think Brooks switched to small ball when his best lineup wasn't scoring. His small ball is better at scoring. First 6 minutes of the 4th, the Thunder only made 1 FG and the Spurs went from down 7 to up 5.

Per J.A. Adande, espn:

Hope is a dangerous concept in the NBA this time of year. There's much more comfort to be found in probabilities and trends. The good news for the Thunder is that Harden shot 59 percent against the Spurs in the three regular-season games and got to the free-throw line seven times per game.

The bad news is the Spurs didn't have Ginobili in those games. And right now San Antonio has the O.G. Ginobili, and the Thunder have a duplicate made by a copy machine that's low on toner.

Game 2 tonight. Will the Spurs come out flat and let the Thunder in the game or will they play well and get a double digit lead? There were times in the first half that I thought the lead could be 10 or more but there were 14 turnovers.

Green and Bonner need to knock down their open looks. They had plenty last game.

If Manu played for a different team would you just hate him (not as a person, but as a player). Here's some balding white guy from another country just running mad game on your beloved team! I think that would drive me crazy!!!

As it is, though, I love the guy!

From 48minutes of hell in reference to people wanting the Thunder to push the pace and get out into transition:

quote:

Consider this: In games in which there have been at least 94 possessions, the Spurs have won 21 straight games. Over the same time frame, the Thunder are 11-7 at games played at that pace.

The Spurs had 97 possessions last night. They’ve now won 22 straight in games with more than 94 possessions. The Thunder should re-think small. It’s the right approach most nights, and against most teams. It’s not the right approach against San Antonio.

Tickets still available for tonights game from the Spurs/TM website.

I wonder if their local (non-hardcore) fans really appreciate what they have there right now?

I'm getting antsy as well.

Still pretty uneasy about tonight's game. I think OKC is a huge threat. However, if the Spurs play D like I know they are capable of doing, I like them to pull this out. You have to think Green/Kawhi/Bonner will hit a few 3s tonight...

I expect Durant and Westbrook to hit a few of the shots they missed the other night... but I also expect a guy like Fisher to play down to his level and not be 6 for 6 in the 4th quarter.

But on the flip-side I look for the Spurs to turn the ball over less and be more productive all around as a team. Manu scores less points but the other role players make up for it.

So I think we see a bit of a different game with a similar final result.

whether or not I think Brooks is the right coach for OKC, he is hilarious.

quote:
Scott Brooks on why OKC usually follows L's with W's. "Maybe we play nastier. I haven't heard that before. I just made that up."

He's always pretty funny when Rome has him on as well.

Stay safe in OKC. Downtown is about to get hammered. Hope you can enjoy the Spurs win with no damage.
