Since this was all done by the fifa disciplinary committee, I wonder why it took 2 extra days. Was the suspension length determination done by a subcommittee that said should not have been a card but refered to main committee since they were not authorized to nullify the suspension?

The issue was that VAR should never have been used in that situation, and the VAR ref sent slow motion views, which is also not allowed.
Why did it take so long, not one clue.

If it was true, I imagine all parties are going to keep quiet about it. Probably closer to a 'can this be fixed?' with a 'yes we can make it happen but it will take a day or two to go through proper channels' type of conversation much lower down the food chain

Yep, it wasn't just a horrendous call, it was illegal.
The only way to make it right was to overturn the illegally given red card.
Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know the rules or hates President Trump and the USMT.

Just for the overall record. Article 27 has been used for Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Nicolas Otamendi (Argentina) and Moises Caicedo (Ecuador) to all be able to play matches at this World Cup. I was actually unaware of the second 2 of them.
Actually Tarek Salman for Qatar also had a 1 match ban waived so he could play in their World Cup opener.

No excuses tomorrow which is the only thing I want from the knockout round. At full strength we have a chance to keep winning. Let's see what happens.

Whoever was playing in place of him, you have to manage that discussion well so they are still ready to go and not mentally taken out of the game by sitting again.
The team as a whole will have to adjust tactics somewhat (hopefully not too much, I think its likely we would have played Pepi and mostly played the same as a team)

Also, anything beyond "we're gonna play whoever is put on the field in front of us" is a big mistake from Belgium. You can't do squat. You aren't going to do squat. Anything else is a distraction
