Not saying it's right, but a common practice. They would be let out of their LOI if they so choose. If not you sign nobody
I think it's very likely G will be back next year if something doesn't happen by this weekend.

Not if we are going after a coach whose team is still playing. Which one would hope would be the case.

I understand wanting to a top tier coach, but that doesn't mean G can't be let go before that happens. Either you're committed to making a move or not, and I think that window is closing after this weekend. Hope I'm wrong. It also lets prospective coaches know the job is open. Not making a decision on G before signing day and then the transfer portal the following week just doesn't make sense. Could also impact if current players decide to enter the portal. Also not sure TA wants to force G out his first year on the job.

Yea but they just lost their best player. Trinity Byars signed a pro contract with San Diego and has been added to their roster. I presume that means she's done with college and ineligible for the NCAA tourney (and the SEC final)TRM said:

How difficult is it for the students to contact a new school and sign a LoI before Wed versus after Wed if they are given the ability to pursue new options if G is let go?
Nate Lie. Kansas just won the Bjg 12 tournament. Was great at Xavier. Put him on the list.
Since they are not committed, for all we know they're all in contact with other schools. Other schools can contact them unless they are signed. It'll be easier for other schools to recruit them now before they sign and have to wait to get released. However most classes are pretty full by now so that's the hard part, plus a lot of girls usually graduate high school early to come train in the spring.
If our recruits are highly sought after then they'll easily find another school that wants them. I'm sure if other schools were interested, coaches would have been in there ear the past few months negatively recruiting against Coach G and his future here.

I don't understand this…he was allowed to finish another terrible season. He's compensated well. Hes owed nothing else.

That's one opinion. He built a program that you cared about and had them being really good for a time. I get that you don't care about him as person and that's fine. I think we can end his time with the program and keep it as amicable as possible. It doesn't have to be either or.

What difference does firing him now or a week ago vs whenever he wants to leave make??? Do you want to throw him a pizza party or a parade down Wellborn before he goes. We all are grateful for his time at A&M, but we've had 4 rough years where he's failed to put a consistent winning product on the field. He's ran our best girls out of the program. He's recruited very poorly. He doesn't utilize transfers. He never takes accountability for losses, he either actually blames the girls to the media or blames the refs. He's told the media mid season that he needs better players, he's told the media that they the girls are soft. You wanted him to go out nicely but one of his last games he can't even coach it because he got ejected the game before for throwing f bombs at a female referee and throwing the finger at her. He skips post game interviews after losses. He's won 14 sec games in the past 4 years. Tu has won 8 this season alone. Recruiting I'm state has been atrocious. The past 3 cycles, only 3 girls have been ranked in the top 20 in texas. We are arguably the 6th or 7th best team in Texas right now. Coach G had this season to prove he was worth the extension we gave him in 2022 after a losing conference season and a losing record in 2021. Instead we were a non factor all year.
But yeah let's let him decide when he wants to go because we want to be nice… forget that it can potentially set back our program even worse than he's leaving it. I'm sure more girls will enter the portal regardless if G stays, in fact I'm sure more would leave if he stays. Calzada and Pante are excellent players who came to A&M during its worst 4 year stretch, I feel for those girls. We had girls who were starting on tournament teams leave their team to come sit and the bench for G because he refused to play transfers quality minutes. We are thankful for what he's built this program into but we can sit by and let him continue to run this program into the ground and let other sec schools and in state schools continue to pass us by.
