It's Burnet Durnet. My kid goes to camp up there, and they all have shirts and hats with that on there.

Mexia is hard to pronounce, and llano.

Two Aggie policeman have a speed trap on I35 south of Dallas. They catch someone going 90mph and begin to go after him. One Aggie says to the other, as he is filling out the ticket during the chase, "how do you spell Waxahachie?"

Pharr has two r's, but I don't see how it is hard to pronounce, it's pronounced far. While talking about the Rio Grande Valley, how about Rio Grande City pronounced Rio Grand City, even though the city is over 90% Hispanic.
La Joya might confuse some, as it is La Hoy-ya.

Then there is Penitas. I think that is pronounced Pen-knee-tus.

and back to the Brazos valley, Bryan as Brine is just a matter of dialect. I say Bry-an or Brian, but if said fast it could sound like Brine.

Greenville is grin-vul, it's the standard southern pronunciation of anything-ville. Same with Hunts-vul.

Funny, there's a Houston here in Miss and it's the correct Houston. Also, there's a Kosciusko(spelling) and it's pronounced as Koz-y-ez-ko. Same in the Texas version?

Lancaster is Lank-uster.

How about Mabank? May-Bank.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Joaquin. Pronounced "waw keen". You can always pick out the rookie news people. They pronounce it "ja kwin" We get Louisiana TV stations and they always have trouble with Nacogdoches because of Natchitoches (sp) in Louisiana.
