Yeah, all of these high end recruits just automatically start playing great together. All of these top 5 recruiting classes translate to conference championships, playoff berths, and national championships regardless of the coach, right?
Some really stupid sh*t being spewed here

Mississippi State (5-7) finished tied for 13th place in the SEC
they beat Arizona State (8-4) who finished tied for 4th place in the BDF
that tells you all you need to know
Stop with the transitive property. It doesn't work, especially with week 1 and 2 games.
ASU @ MSU was week 2 and ASU lost the game on a last minute, blown coverage.
Tech played @ ASU with not only the starting QB out, but the star DL just got injured the week before. ASU had this game circled on their calendar since last year (this their words, not mine). They put all their chips into winning this one game.
So, no, it doesn't tell you all you need to know. You're leaving out some key details.
In 2008, Tech nearly lost to Nevada in week 2 and then went on to a 10-win season with wins over (#1) UT and (#8) OSU. Tech had climbed to #2 at one point before getting beat by OU. But they were a hair away from losing to Nevada (on the road).
2010 Tech blew out KSU @ KSU. KSU had blown out A&M. A&M then blows out Tech. So enough with this transitive property BS.
And last but certainly not least....
2025 Florida (4-8, 2-6) beat UT who beat A&M soundly. Based on your logic above, does that tell me all that I need to know????

In my 25 years of observing messageboard posts/threads, this has to be the most bizarre anthill one is willing to die on.
Overpaying a coach flex. You be you, boo-boo.

He told his agent to tell schools who reach out not to waste their time.
I know you all think so little of Tech, but the investment in the program is real and legitimate and is not just by a handful of boosters. It's a much better job than many of you give it credit for, and Tech is going to be well-positioned for the next round of realignment.
Wrong. The next round of realignment will be a 40 team super conference. Tech will not be included. The lack of a media market and the bridges they have burned. The administrations in Austin, CS, and Norman will all be hard "No"s.

Add another to the pile that doesn't understand supply and demand.
Coaches are paid what the market demands they are paid. No more no less. This topic is about why McGuire doesn't draw interest. Some tech idiot tries to use a new $7 million deal as some proof he's being taken care of. In one of the tightest and competitive coaching markets ever, if you got a coach maxing at $7 million it means nobody ****ing wanted him. That's what you don't get. And nobody wants him because they know full well why he's won this year and it has zero to do with his ability.
College football coaches aren't paid for wins. They are paid to either stay at your school or leave someone else's.

I think the future is funneling all money to NIL. Stop wasting time with high end staff and HS recruiting.
They've shown money can buy a playoff run and you can just buy the best players in the transfer portal.

I'm of two minds on McGuire-
-On one hand, Tech was pretty unremarkable in his first few seasons before turning on the NIL firehose
-On the other hand, there have been plenty of teams who dropped a load of money on a roster and didn't end up with a lot of wins to show for it. At the very least, he and his staff did a good job evaluating the talent available and hit big on the guys they decided to invest in. That, plus he seems to have a functional locker room, which is also a concern when you're going portal-heavy.

This. High School Joey is not getting serious offers because he's the weakest link. The money they have been throwing around explains why they get commits without the player having even seen the campus. Tech is irrelevant because they have no following and even in the best season of their history, no one is watching their games.

You really don't understand how this works at all, do you?
The numbers in that chart were from the NIL spend in the portal last spring, in which Tech had what many consider to be the number 1 portal class in the nation.
The #19 rank was from the recruiting class that signed today and is entirely unrelated to the chart above.
And yes, being the #4 ranked team in the nation, I would say we are killing it.
You'd do well to not lecture people. It makes you look like a smooth brained person.

Tech is 3-0 against currently ranked teams which is the best among all teams in the top 25. Tech curb stomped BYU, Utah and Houston. If you insist on degrading Tech's team, take it up with AP voters, coaches poll voters, FPI, SP+, Sagarin, and the CFP committee. They all seem to think this is a pretty good team.
