I'm BY FAR not the biggest Gundy fan for numerous reasons, but if you look at his record -- only 2 losing seasons, his first and this year -- that's a hell of a record for 20 years at that school. It includes 8 10+ winning seasons and another 2 9-game winners. I'm sorry, but you're not going to get that out of anyone else who would take that job. And if you did, they sure as hell wouldn't stay as long as he has.
Ignore this year as an anomaly, rework his contract to get rid of the automatic extensions but give him more money for next year than he would have gotten, and move forward. I know schools like OkSt don't want to be told that 8 and 9 win seasons, with the 10 winner coming maybe 20% of the time, is what they're looking at, but the fact is, it is exactly that. Hell, that's probably what it is for us. They've got a far better chance with Gundy and the 12 team playoff than they would blowing it up and ending up with 3 coaches in 8 years, and that's exactly what will happen if they fire him.
