What most people have lost in what Jimbo did, his actions were not actions out of anger. If they were, then he would deserve a lecturing about anger issues.

What Jimbo actually did was try to keep his team out of a fight, penalties, ejections, and suspensions. He first tried yelling at his players, but when he saw that was not getting the attention of Dobson, he had to resort to breaking the kids focus on the opposing player who was being provacative by breaking his focus. If you review the play/moment, he didn't jerk the face mask up and down/side to side in a way that would hurt Dodson. Yes, he grabbed his face mask, but it wasn't a violent, angry shaking. It was more of a "look at my face" and read my lips, cut this crap out or you're gone from the game.

If the prof feels so strongly and led to act on his evaluation of Jimbo, he should have written his concerns to the AD and copied the University administration. A letter to the editor or op-ed was way out of line.

Positives from this Letter:

• Leunes signed his name and is willing to own his statement rather than slinking behind a keyboard

Negatives from this letter:

• "Fisher's troubled (and troubling) tenure" - this is the first I've heard of Jimbo having a troubled tenure
• "captured on television pushing and shoving assistant coaches and/or other team personnel" - this is the first I've heard of Jimbo pushing/shoving assistants, etc.
• "missteps have gone viral to tens of thousands of television viewers" - technically can't go viral on TV, the TV broadcasters go off the deep end with outrage. Going viral on twitter/youtube/etc is silly. anybody with half a brain can see Jimbo is getting the boy's attention and helping guide him to correct behavior
• "might not have to endure 10 more years of this boorish, mind-boggling misbehavior" - Leunes doesn't have to endure anything--he is welcome to not watch the Aggies, and is also welcome to find another school/institution that will have him
• "53-year faculty member" - this alone could make one Boorish
• "decade-long history of coddling an assortment of sex offenders, felons, miscreants and ne'er-do-wells" - this doesn't seem correct. The only player that was in serious trouble was Jameis and there was not enough evidence to convict him. The bigger problem of this statement is to besmirch the reputation of Texas A&M by referring to supposed acts of Jimbo at FSU which Leunes is off base on.
• Arrest rate of Texas A&M under sumlin was higher than Jimbo at FSU--seems like we have an improvement there? I don't for a minute believe Jimbo is encouraging reckless behavior, but actually the opposite--moreso than Sumlin
• "Winning coaches often are given a behavioral and ethical blank check" - I would not tolerate, nor do I believe the Aggie faithful would tolerate a coach that knowingly supported bad behavior the way Briles did at baylor--no matter his pedigree or results.

All-in-all, was a dumb letter to write and does more damage to our school and our coach's reputation than anything possible good that was intended.

Time for Leunes to step down.
