with how much turmoil there's going to be on the coaching carousel this season why would he commit to an OC job here? Unless of course he no longer wants the stresses of HC duty and wants to phase out as an OC. If so we built the staff for the long haul with Chief and Spurrier.
Steve doesn't want to HC Gone from Shottenheimer to Spurier in 15min..

I give..uncle.

Had never seen that pic before?? Slocum rocking the Mom jeans and Spurrier looking like he dressed at Good Will. Fun times for them.

Now I think Rojo is guessing it's Spurrier:

From his wiki (Wizard reference):

^ Kelly, Tom (January 5, 1990). "Ailing Gators Put Football Future in the Hands of Miracle Worker Spurrier". The Orlando Sentinel. Retrieved 11 November 2013.

^ S.L. Price, "Spurrier: Call Me Mastermind," Sports Illustrated (October 3, 2007). Retrieved April 8, 2010.
^
- He lived in Athens
- Dad is a Presbyterian minister
- Golfer

That name is a lot more fun to think about, so that's what I'm going with until I get severely disappointed with the actual new hire (if there is one )

I'm trying to determine why we should be excited about a Spurrier hire. The guy hasn't been an OC for years and his offenses at USCe left a lot to be desired. Am I missing something here?

And for the record, ain't no way in hell he's coming to CS to be the OC. He's a member at freakin' Augusta National. He ain't leaving that to come try to resurrect our offense.

He was a precursor for the Air Raid offense and won a national championship at Florida. I know South Carolina hasn't been doing well lately, but when you're 70 years old and have over 25 years of experience, the pressures of being a head coach can be overwhelming. It's likely why he resigned (key word: resigned).

Part of Spurrier's problem at USC was a lack of talent. I think his Florida offense would work just fine with the guys we have. Do you think Kyle or Kyler are as talented as Danny Wuerffel? Can Spav move to RB coach? Kick rocks, McKinney.

Hey Chief, whose offense did you hate coaching against the most? "Steve Spurrier when he was at Florida."

Read this if you think we have no chance at Spurrier.

It's definitely harder to recruit 4 and 5 star players in South Carolina than in Alabama or Texas.

Spurrier would spread def's vertically, much like Briles does, unlike this horizontal horse chit we're doing now.
And we have tools that could be VERY dangerous in a scheme like that.

Could it be that maybe the folks on this forum care more about what happens in Aggieland as opposed to what happens in Austin?

I agree 1000% percent if that is even possible. I think he not only needs to not be our OC, but I don't want him to be our QB coach either. I am just saying it sucks that we are having to discuss this as much as we are.

My only hope is that we can find a splash hire as big as Chavis to match the gains we have made (and in my opinion will continue to make with him on board)

I just don't know if there is someone out there that can do it that we would be able to pull back. KK? I think he could. Leach? yeah he could. But I don't think that Rojo is hinting at either of those guys.

Its SPURRIER. Follow Aggie Rojo's clues:

1. He's HUGE: Watch the Heisman House commercial with Spurrier looking at a fogged up mirror and the word HUGE is written on it.
2. Follow the Yellow Brick Road: The yellow brick road led to the wizard. Spurrier is the wizard that has won the national championship and ushered in the spread in the SEC. He could be just meaning that only in your dream would you think we could have the Ol' Ball Coach as our OC or he may just be referring to follow Rojo's clues.
3. Aristotle and Plato: Plato was Aristotle's mentor/teacher. Sumlin has stated several times that he considered Spurrier his mentor and wants to be like him.
4. That Old Timey Religion: Spurrier is the son of a minister and the song was originally written in South Carolina.
5. "its difficult to piece the puzzle together when you are looking at the back. But, once the front is revealed, it will be a "Doh" moment for many": Again, the Heisman House commercial with Spurrier, it shows him looking into the fogged mirror that says HUGE from the back, and then you see him from the front and know its the Ol' Ball Coach.

He shot down Mangino and Shottenheimer on page 43. Spurrier also said, "First of all I'm resigning, not retiring, let's get that all straight. I doubt I'll ever be a head coach again, but maybe coach high school or something." This thread was started by Rojo 12 days after Spurrier resigned.

So I believe it is very obvious Rojo is intimating that it is Spurrier. That's HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After the ink is dry, I am sure Looch will join Aristotle and Plato in welcoming A&M football's newest son with an article outlining the process.

It will be HUGE.
So,
Plato: kds
Aristotle: spav

The HBC specifically mentioned "possibly" trying a coordinator position in his appearance on College Game Day when asked about his future. He said that he had talked to other old coaches and they said they enjoyed it.

It is pretty obvious that Sumlin has a coaching crush on Spurrier. Every time you see them, Sumlin looks like he wants to get an autograph.

That would be a hell of a hire.
