Wait for it. It's coming. Sumlin is very loyal to his coaches, as we would want him to be. He's not going to throw them under the bus -- but, he is going to have a new OC. Wait for it, there are a couple of complexities to be worked out. When you hear the name -- you will know the reason for the wait.

This attention is very important to you, isn't it?
Considering you don't know who I am, that I have posted 3-4 times in the past year, I think you are on to something.....

Just wait for it.

And for those few "Ags" who are blasting the players - stop. Stop. Stop. Those who would do so are the same you didn't even make their High School practice squad for the Freshman C team.

Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray are both exceptional QBs. We have exceptional WRs. We need a bit of work on the OL. But, most of all we need a new OC that doesn't literally shuffle his index cards to randomly call plays. Sumlin gave the guy every bit of the doubt he could. Now, there is no doubt in Sumlin's mind that there needs to be a change. But, he isn't going to do this publicly.

Sit down, be quite, and wait for it. On game day, stand up and Yell your freakin' heads off for the players in Maroon. They deserve it.

But the Aggies aren't wearing maroon

He said new OC is HUGE. Do we really want a fat guy running the show?

"HUGE" can mean different things to different people.

Within the coaching community, Bob Stitt would draw a collective, "Aw crap!!" from DCs in the SEC West. The vast public would go, "Who??"

And aggiehawg would be breaking out the good stuff and screaming, "We're cooking with gas now!!"

For real though, let's just play a hypothetical...

DC - John Chavis
OC - Steve Spurrier

That would have to be one of the most accomplished pair of coordinators to ever grace a sideline (or booth). We'd have to win a championship with those guys calling the plays. Right? RIGHT?!!

I say Steve as a play OC but we keep spav for recruiting

I can see Sumlin bringing in someone to tutor Spav - as the QB coach.

Gotta admit, it's pretty crazy all the evidence that Rojo has given points mostly to Spurrier. I just feel like it's more coincidence than anything. It certainly would make the way Spurrier handled everything make a LITTLE more sense. The whole thing just seemed random and out of character for him .... at the time. I don't know why he'd want to take that large of a paycut, other than to say he doesn't need the money and wants to win above all else. Their D isn't getting any better anytime soon. We have Chavis, and by all accounts some of the best offensive talent in the country. We're just missing the right coach/play caller. Maybe the stress of being HBC is too much at 70, especially when he knows they aren't and won't be contenders in the near future. There's plenty of reason for him to come and finish his career out here. We have a need for his biggest talent, and it's possible we could see an SEC championship and possibly NC birth in the next few years. USCe has no shot in that time frame. Again, he likes to win more than anything else. That was the biggest part of the surprise for me when he announced his "resignation" - why would someone that wants to win so bad end it all on a downturn like that? But, if the plan was already in the works, it starts to make more sense. He and Sumlin clearly have a mutual respect for one another. That part's not even debatable.

Having said all that. I still just don't see it happening. I mean, it's Steve Spurrier. And we are Texas A&M. BAS abound.

I guess if you think about it, the only reason it really makes sense to keep an inexperienced OC on your staff this long, and after making a big time DC hire is because it's easy to demote him when you land the big fish.

But who knows. I REFUSE TO GET SUCKED INTO THIS

He's a good recruiter. I think that's worth a lot. But I don't see how they can keep him at over 400k, reduce his duties and then bring someone else in.

Playing calling requires experience and the ability to game plan, but then there is the need for the ability to see what's happening in real time, adapt and be creative. Spav seems to lack the latter. Not sure that's teachable.

Sumlin wasted 3 years with Snyder, and Spav is a lot better OC than Snyder was a DC You do the math.

He only fired Snyder 1 year too late. He has the same opportunity with Spav.

I wasn't a Spav fan but I think it would've been difficult to fire him after last season since s lot of production issues could be blamed on Kenny's meltdown and Kyle was improving as a true freshman.

I recall threads after the SC game last season wanting to give him a raise because we were worried he was going to leave.

New theory

Low Places = On the Down Low
Huge = Ron Jeremy Huge

We are looking for coach with a massive Johnson who may have had a tryst with a former OC

This is where I get stuck

Hmmm...If it is Spurrier, and I get the impression it is, could this also be bringing someone on board to back-fill Sumlin's position should he decide to leave in the future?

Is spurrier still a great coach to hire? I'm guessing yes, but SC has sucked and we stomped their asses in the ground..

If KDS is gonna continue to to this hiring experience thing than Mangino

Leach taught Mark Mangino the air raid offense at Oklahoma, and the following year the Sooners won a national title with it. Leach, now the head coach at Washington State, added his own wrinkles to the air raid at Texas Tech and passed on pieces of it to Sonny Dykes (Louisiana Tech, California), Briles (Houston, Baylor) and Dana Holgorsen (West Virginia), who had played wide receiver for Mumme and Leach at Iowa Wesleyan. Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M) became friends with Mumme in the late 1990s at Mumme and Leach's annual offseason coaches gathering, even though he was then just an assistant at Minnesota. Sumlin added his personal touches as an assistant coach at Oklahoma under Bob Stoops -- more vertical routes and letting his quarterback run.

I'll shotgun some wild guesses that sort of relate to Rojo's cryptic message:

- Montana (comparatively low Missoula in a valley between mountains) Bob Stitt
- Arizona State (devil) Mike Norvell
- Duke (devil) Scottie Montgomery
- Wash. St. (huge name coach) Mike Leach
- Belhaven University (low place Jackson, Miss.) - Hal Mumme
- Iowa St. - Mark Mangino (huge name and huge person)
- South Carolina - Steve Spurrier (huge name)

- Duke (devil) Scottie Montgomery Zero idea

- Wash. St. (huge name coach) Mike Leach Not a chance

- Belhaven University (low place Jackson, Miss.) - Hal Mumme Only if he brings his sunglasses and the NCAA mess is faaaaarrrr behind him

- Iowa St. - Mark Mangino (huge name and huge person) BURP!

- South Carolina - Steve Spurrier (huge name) Our golf courses suck in comparison to what he is used to playing

Just to state the obvious. There is absolutely no way that a new offensive coordinator would come in mid season and take over as the play caller. There is no way that a current HC or OC is going to leave his team mid season and work for another school.

If this has any legs to it at all then the only possibility is a currently available coach who would come in as an offensive consultant. Any change in coordinator would take place after the season.

I suppose that there is some small chance of Spurrier being a consultant after the USCe game. Him and Sumlin are friends and he has said that he isn't ready to retire. He definitely won't be the offensive coordinator.

If you are on team Mangino bear. Well again him coming in as an offensive consultant is the only way it will happen mid season. A change at coordinator could happen at the end of the season, but anyone could guess that.

Let's talk numbers. A HUGE pickup would cost over a mil. No way KDS can do that during the season without letting someone go. Someone enlighten me

Crazy to me that so many posters on here immediately jump in with such a visceral reaction to a post by a guy that CLEARLY has some credible sources and inside info. But I guess that's the zoo for you.

-He nailed the chavis hire days before
-He nailed Murray & Mack weeks before

Yet because two 18 year old kids backtracked and decided not to flip on NSD some posters automatically label Rojo as a "troll", completely ignoring the accuracy of his past predictions (and rather bold predictions at that).

Sometimes I think a lot posters just enjoy being miserable and would honestly be happier if the A&M football program was in complete shambles so they could B***H about it all day long.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride. We'll find out soon enough whether Rojo is right or not. I'm choosing to believe and have fun while this thing plays out, because it's way better than being miserable.
