The fact that you know this and that you thought you would share it is kind of amusing to me.

If I didn't believe you, do you really think I would make a quick phone call or trip to the jeweler just to ask that?

My dad was Class of 54. Wore his on the left hand in place of his wedding ring. Nothing more to it than that.

I wear my ring on my left hand all the time just to troll people. I love it when some fish asks me why my ring isn't on my right hand. I just drink my Big Red and laugh...

Men commonly wore their rings on their left hand because it was uncomfortable for many of them when shaking hands often and also because of the work they were doing. Many men did not wear the wedding bands back then and would just have the aggie ring on left hand if married.

I love the people that start these threads about rings on left hands and the stickas. It starts up again every few years.

There were two secret societies, predominately before WWII. One was the swastikas and I forget the name of the other. It was a dismissal offense to belong to either of the two societies.
My father and I wore ours on the left hand to keep our fingers from being crushed when shaking hands. I still do wear it on my left hand, Dad was '39, I'm 70.

The reason for wearing on the left hand was that it was closest to the person's heart.

I posted this thread as a dumb little freshman, and now im in my last semester of college.

Come April 12th, I might just have to give this a try

I wear mine on my left hand because it does not fit too well on my right. When I do a lot of outside work, like gardening, my fingers swell a little. I am right handed so my right fingers swell more. My wife does not care that I no longer wear my wedding band.

The head drum major this year wears his ring on his left hand. No idea why.

I do because it is more comfortable and it doesn't slip off.

GenWeb wears his on his left hand. One of my buddies said he saw him wasted at an RV dinner one time, and he was telling some hot chick it was because he was in a super secret society and to not tell anyone.

I did meet an Old Ag a few months back who wore his ring on his left hand and told me the same 'secret society' thing.

He seemed odd, so i didn't put much credence into it. He's still the only person I've actually seen, wear his ring on the opposite hand.
