Stuck at 230 after another game weekend.

Gotta get out of my own way (although 3 away games should help).

Edit: 226 today after a day behaved...

239 today. Extremely pissed at myself. Started lifting again Monday and the scale jumped up 5lbs. Unless I'm just retaining water I can't fathom how I've gained 5lbs in such a short span

Now down 54 pounds in very nearly 5 months. My short-term goal was to be under 220 by end of football season. Now looking like 205-208 by then. I'd love to be under 200 by New Years.

I'll probably get down to 190-195, then get off keto and gain the glycogen/water back, and settle in around 195-200. I'm 6'1.5" and 200 looks pretty good on me.

Diet: Keto. Pretty much no alcohol anymore (pregnant wife makes that a whole lot easier).
Most weekdays I'm either fasting 23 hours and eating only dinner, or I might have ~200 calories during the day. Weekends I eat the occasional egg/bacon/butter breakfast, but usually wait until lunch.

I feel pretty good.

I'm lucky I used to be skinnier 10-15 years ago; I'm not going broke buying new pants yet.

I've gone from 44" waist to 36-38" depending on the pant/cut. I haven't bought a designer pair of jeans in more than a decade. Once I'm in the 34-36" range, I might go buy something nice.

Going to do a 6 month physical/bloodwork early December. Anxious to see what the lipid panel looks like.

Well, bday alcohol and race salt intake bumped me up to 231 again. Time to grind down to 210s.

Started the year going from 253.4 and got all the way down to 226.6. Then the wheels fell off and I fell back into old habits.

Started this week at 245.6. All that work down the drain earlier this year. Back to tracking my intake and logging here to keep accountable.

Nov 1: 241.4
Goal 1: 225 at the beginning of 2019
Goal 2: See sub-200 on the scale for the first time in 15 years

Not sure if I've posted in here but I'm finally making progress. I got lazy for the middle part of the year but have hit my reach goal for the year. I started off Jan 1 at 180lbs. Came in this morning at 164.5. Now I'm shooting for 160 by the end of the year. I'm not training for anything right now but I've been running short and easy every day and doing some body weight exercises. Also trying not to eat like a complete moron helps too.

Down 6 lbs since my restart last week.
Nov 5: 239.6

Goal for the next couple weeks is to not see 240 again. Weekend trip to NYC will make that hard but having a fresh goal will help.

I went in for a physical on Sept 4th and the doctor told me everything looked good - no cholesterol issues, blood pressure issues or diabetes. Long story short, I'm using this news as motivation before years of being overweight catch up with me.

8/23 - 333.6
9/4 - 322
9/12 - 321
9/18 - 316.2
9/25 - 313.2
10/2 - 313
10/16 - 308.2
10/24 - 305.2

My overall goal is 200lbs. I am focused on using my Apple Watch to track active calories and burning 1400+ active calories daily. No changes to my diet but I'm planning to evaluate when I plateau. I'm also planning on "running" (more like power walk) a 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving with my wife and son!

Great news! Congrats on the progress.

I will suggest there is an old adage that you can't exercise your way out of a bad diet. An increase in physical activity is always good - but for long term health, it's vital to address one's eating habits.

There are more plans out there than you can shake a stick at, but many of us have been successful with keto. But even if you're not ready for that step, I recommend people simply start with trying to cut out as much processed sugar as possible. Sugar is the devil in our diets - not fat, not even really calories (to an extent) - it's sugar. Cutting out sugar will make a huge difference in your health.

I totally understand what your saying but right now I'm losing weight and establishing exercise habits. For me getting active and eliminating the time excuse was a big deal so it's where I put my focus.

My thought process is that I can change my eating habits once I stop losing weight with minimal time investment. At this point my exercise habits will be firmly established and I'll likely see another sizeable (and encouraging) drop.

I'm trying to play the long game and establish the foundations for a healthier lifestyle.

Do whatever works for you; anything is better than nothing.

But keep in mind, to lose 2 pounds a week, you need 1000 calorie deficit daily.

Cutting consumption of 1000 calories is easy peasy.

Burning 1000 extra calories through exercise is quite a bit more work. If you're walking, that's 8-10 miles a day. Or 1-2 hours of pretty high level exercise daily.

So, unless you're running marathons regularly, losing weight through diet is far and away easier.

Slight climb over the weekend in NYC but all the walking and making a few conscious choices during meals helped keep it mostly in check.

Down almost 8 lbs since restarting on Oct 29th. Down 15.5 lbs on the year.

Broke through 160 today coming in at 159.9. I didn't really have a Thanksgiving meal since my family was out of town and I'm saving vacation days so that has helped. Usually I'd be a sucker for half dozen deviled eggs and 3 servings of green bean casserole but instead I had a pb&j when I was skiing and a deli turkey salad last night.

I'm not sure if I posted on this thread earlier in the year. The first half of '18 wasn't friendly to me. My weight kept going up and up. By mid July i was 20lbs heavier than the summer before and 30lbs heavier than the fall of '16.

Started IF during the last week of July and finally got my gym mojo back. I'm down 17 so far and am trying to peel off another 1-2 before the new year. Baby steps.

12/10 202, down 66 pounds since the start. Slightly lighter than when I got to A&M in 2004.

Had a 6 month bloodwork check today.

Total cholesterol good 178, but ldl a little high and hdl a little low. Not surprising since I've gotten lazy and been eating bunless burgers for lunch a few days a week. I need to get serious again and reduce my omega 6 intake. But still happy; I was fearing that with keto I'd have a cholesterol of 400 or something.

BP was 108/68, much lower than any time in my life.

Testosterone was good, although I didn't have a baseline from before.

Feeling pretty good. Going to start introducing small amounts of complex carbs and some exercise to try and gain some lean mass.
