If you're reading this thread after the "start" but want to get in, don't hesitate- it's never too late to start, and I'll track anyone's numbers that posts here.


Back in 2016, we had a weight loss thread to help with motivation/ accountability in losing weight for the new year, or for whatever you might be losing weight for. In total, we lost 896 pounds, which accounted for about 6% of our combined body weight. 31 different posters lost 10 pounds or more. I'll fire it back up and keep track again this year for anyone who wants to participate.

How it will work :
Starting Date : Monday, January 8th. (Gives a little wiggle room to those at the beginning of the year and gives everyone a chance to see it and jump in on the start date) - If you want to start on 1/1, that's perfectly fine just let me know and I will make a note.
First weigh in/ post by me : Monday January 15th.
Ending Date : Monday, May 14th (18 weeks total duration)
Weekly Updates : On every Monday or Tuesday, I will post the weekly update compiled from all of the posts in this thread since the last update ranked in order of % weight loss, and also in terms of % to weight goal.

If you want to participate, all you need to do is :
a) give me your starting weight (as of 1/8) and goal weight for the end of the challenge.
b) update your weight weekly during the duration of the challenge.

If you miss a week, or join late, that's perfectly fine. There are no prizes, or anything along those lines. This is simply to help with motivation and accountability and hopefully add a teamwork/ community element to an otherwise very personal goal. Everyone is welcome. Also, if it's anything like the 2016 thread, there is a pretty good Q&A element that evolves, especially when some people plateau and get frustrated.

I will be in. I have a goal of losing 35 lbs before I turn 35. That would give me a goal of losing 23 lbs during this challenge.

I'm in. I don't have a ton of weight to lose (will have some holiday lbs to shed) but like tracking throughout the year and having an accountability chart.

Goal for this year is to lean up and maintain around 205

I'm in. I lost ~38 pounds in the second half of 2017. My goal is another 60 pounds this year. Hopefully during this challenge I'll lose 25 of those pounds.

I will start Jan. 1. I'll post here tomorrow.

I lost about 70 lbs last year. I'll be going back on keto tomorrow to lose the last 20 hopefully by sometime this spring. I could probably stand to lose even more, but my goal was 200 lbs and that ain't bad for 55 years old.

Trust me - if an old fat man like me can do this, you can too.

I'm starting out almost exactly where I was at the beginning of the 2016 challenge on my weight, but body fat is about four points lower than it was then.
