red- hard pass

Thanks. I just see rust on the trailer hitch and some surface rust on the axles and muffler. Is that cause for concern on a 24 year old truck? Also, is a CEL due to EGR system a huge problem to fix?

rust all underneath I'm sure.

Plus you want 95-97
more bang for the buck

$9500 is waaay overpriced

Jesus.

Looking at the photos that guy posted, he could have at least used a shop vac and cleaned it up and wiped the 3" of dust off the dash/cluster.

The paint is LOL too.

And no airbags.

This. APT is a bloodhound for these things. It was a shock that I found my 100 (may she RIP) without him having seen it first.

reddog,

Could you change the thread title to "Land Cruisers" or "The Land Cruiser Thread". The misspell is driving my OCD crazy.

Very often these are overpriced by the owner, especially on IH8Mud. If you have an exceptional rig - clean, low miles, collector's edition or what have you - then exceptional prices may be paid. I just sold my 80 and bought a 100 and based on my experiences in buying both and selling the one I think the owners will need to take about $3k off their asking prices - but all it takes is the right buyer and some patience to get a sale sometimes.

If you like personalizing your vehicles then I'd suggest offering $7K for the unmodified one, if rust free, and see how that goes. I like choosing the bumper and sliders and upgrades myself, but you might prefer one already built exactly as you'd like. Like I said, I think all three look like solid Cruisers and only thought you should offer well below asking to see if they'll work with you. I did see the one had a sale pending and lots of interest, perhaps he'll get close to what he's asking.

One has been listed over a month, one for two months, and the unmodified one is recently posted. It took about 6 weeks to sell my triple locked 96 with lift, 35" tires, ARB and 4x4 Labs bumper, all upgraded stereo, all new A/C components, rebuilt front axle - but with rust - for $6800.

It's painful that you sold the 80 at that number - your aftermarket parts alone were almost worth that!

I get it though, there's not always money for toys.

I bought it for $3500 3.5 years ago, it already had the bumper with winch, sliders, And lift when I got it. I added the rear bumper and replaced all the stereo stuff, otherwise everything else was maintenance or repairs. It had some rust issues.

Oh nice, well nevermind, you did really well then!
How many miles on it may I ask?

231K when bought, 242K when sold.

Can't say I did well financially, despite selling it for nearly twice what I bought it for I had way more into it with maintenance, tires, etc. I did do well as far as enjoyment, bad ass truck.

That thing looks like crap. Probably runs like crap as well. You should immediatley drop that off in my driveway so you don't have to deal with it anymore.

It's not uncommon but the turn signals are off a 70 series and attached to the side/fender skirt rather than the top of the fender.

Edit: That means the original turns probably got knocked off in the jungle.

80 vs 100 for

-weekend trips and car camping around TX
-longer trips to Big Bend, San Juans, Utah
-not interested in serious rock crawling

Do I need an 80? I know the 80 is a tank but does it lack power once you are loaded down to go somewhere? Watching videos of HIH and Expedition Overland, I feel like I would be more than fine in a 100 for what interests me. Is one easier for a noob to work on than the other? Just wondering if I really need a triple locked solid axle vehicle.

100 would be fine for the above.

Are you trying to talk yourself out of an 80? I won't help you do that.
