The 100 that replaced the 80:






2006 (VVTi) Land Cruiser. Bought it with a questionable history from a questionable dealership (recipe for disaster but see username) however it was the cheapest 80 I could find in the continental 48. It showed as one owner on the carfax but googling the VIN also showed it was sold by the Baltimore police department last year - some type of seizure then it went unclaimed? Maryland is in the rust belt so I knew that was going to be an issue. I did have it inspected by an independent shop prior to purchase and they stated it all looked good and that they could recommend a purchase. That all sounded good...

Upon receipt I confirmed it had some rust - and that the shady dealership sprayed black paint over it where they could. But it's not terribly bad rust, it was worse on the 80 I had. Ignition switch is not original, probably had to replace due to whatever landed it in the impound yard. Prior owner was a smoker - in fact I found facebook photos of him smoking big fat cigars in the Cruiser. I found him on facebook after discoveringsome paperwork in the glove box, it was paperwork showing he bought a very expensive service and warranty contract from Toyota when he purchased the truck. Toyota record also show lots of service performed up until around 120K miles (195K on it now). Smoke and rust are bad things but it really runs nice I haven't found any mechanical issues with it yet. I already had new headers and exhaust installed (it needed new exhaust, did not need headers and that was expensive: see username), but not looking at any near term modifications other than removing the running boards. The active height control system still works, but those are known to go bad - might have to rip and replace with conventional somewhere down the road. Need to replace a couple blown speakers and install the bluetooth module, but those are fairly inexpensive things I can do myself.
