I wanted to bump this thread and update this post. I was able to (I think) diagnose the leak as the sunroof pan. For the short term I have fixed the leak by sealing the sunroof shut. Long term, I think I would just like to have the hole filled and get a sunroof-less headliner.
To that effect, I am starting to think about get the 80 painted and I thought there was a suggestion for paint a couple pages back but I couldn't find it. I'd like to have all the glass pulled, spoiler (and other various holes) filled, and any underlying rust take care of. I'd be interested in getting the frame and axles cleaned and painted, as well. Any recommendations in/around Houston? TIA.

I'd always wondered if there was an aftermarket option for those, seeing so many hotdog down a hallway nets on used cruisers. Just never took the time to search.

I love this car, but I have no space for it anymore. I'd keep it otherwise. Best car I have owned. It's a tank.

The 2024 looks great, very nice design and nice retro look. But a 4 cylinder so no chance I will buy it. I'll stick with my 2021 V8.
I will test them out and report back, but I think there's enough stretch for larger items.
Got to drive my buddy's 4 speed fj40. Felt like a HS kid again - complete adrenaline rush just getting to go thru the gears. Won't be long and I'll need to get me something.

I have a neighbor, '98, who makes knives. He mentioned once that leaf springs are excellent raw material for knife projects. Since I reworked the suspension on the FJ40 a while back to put on the OME springs, guess who happened to have a set of old leaf springs on top of the scrap pile!
So my father, CPjr, and I got a match set of knives from our rig. Ho Ho Ho to the dudes in our family!
