I've accepted that the return will be brutal getting out of C/E.

Since B lobby is closed, what about parking at A/B, take underground tram from A to C, check bags at C then go through security? Is that too ridiculous?

If you don't care about the traffic on return then I don't see a need to do this as C traffic shouldn't be an issue that early. Last few times I've been there before 6 there haven't been any stops

Smooth sailing at terminal A this morning at 8am. Plenty of terminal parking, no line for pre-check, terminal train running normally.

IAH opened late which is delaying some flights in and out. My SLC-IAH flight is delayed ~3 hours.

Yes it's an off day, but Terminal A is my new go to. The north side security checkpoint is usually pretty empty and it's a short walk to the train.

I assume they're going to put a roof on the hallway as they've got 2 window AC units (lol in July and August). The new Starbucks is open and the new Club Fly needs to open soon.

I never check a bag, so don't have to worry about going to C. Obviously A won't work if you have to check a bag.

Edit: Best airport experience in a long time (~100 flights per year). On time departure.

Not too far - exit south doors on 1st floor. Rideshare is out the west doors. Both down escalators from lobby area.

There is no question that this is always the move as long as you're not checking a bag. If you are, it gets a lot more complicated.

Went out of A for my flight out of C. No line at check-in at 0430. Easy tram ride to C. Time elapsed from parking in A garage to C gate=11 minutes. Get your coffee at the Starbucks in A, much shorter line,than C.

If not checking bags, A is the play.

I agree. Did the same last Friday morning though for a 9:40 a.m. flight out of B. Only problem I had was a delay at the Skytram for some reason. Had to wait about 5 minutes for the tram to show up, which caused a logjam of too many folks. Same situation getting off at B. Needed Moses to part the sea to get off the tram. Many of crowd at B had to wait for a couple of rounds of the tram. Hope that doesn't occur frequently.
