Of course it was for that. In what universe did you think it was okay to post a naked man spreading open his butt cheeks on our platform?

So is terminal C departures back to normal or should we just go B? We fly out Sunday at noon to Cancun. We usually park offsite and take FastPark(?) to terminal C.

You should just drive to DFW where there isn't a construction boondoggle

While IAH is a mess, I hate driving through to/through the DFW airport. It's confusing. I don't mind connecting through there on a plane; but I don't like driving there at all.

It was the best I have seen it in a long time. I think a Sunday departure at noon shouldn't be too bad. If you are using FastPark, I would go to C if you have PreCheck.

I fly out of IAH at least once a month for work. My go-to is parking at A/B, going through security there, and taking the post-security tram to the appropriate terminal if needed. C/E is a CF on both ends of the trip, so avoid like the plague.

Caveats: I never check a bag and almost always drive. Avoid driving through Arrivals at E or calling an Uber from E if you can - 100% third-world experience. Earlier poster might have the ticket with going to the taxi stand. Can't speak to added wrinkles if you have to check a bag.

Edit: **** a fer-de-lance. Thanks for the flashbacks!

I flew into IAH on Tuesday and took the sky train from C to B to get shuttle to the rental cars. It was a breeze. Only strange thing was that the Avis rental lot had hardly any cars in it which was strange. Normally there are a couple hundred with every row 80-90% full. On Tuesday there were maybe 20 cars spread out across the place.

This... I flew out of E going through C and parking at C twice in the last month with no issues. It was busy but clear was by far the shortest line.

Flew out of terminal D on Saturday. Walked straight up to luggage counter to check luggage and security was 10-15 mins max. Went and got sandwiches in terminal C afterwards and that security line looked third world. F that.

CLEAR has been the biggest frustration for me at C! They rarely have enough folks working and are as slow as Christmas. My kid traveled with me (18-year old not on my CLEAR account) and made it thought Premiere Access before I got through CLEAR.

Is OP being hyperbolic? I've dropped people off at Terminal C several times in the past few months and it never took longer than 10-15 minutes to get to the departure terminal.

And taking 2+ hours to go through security? That sounds preposterous, honestly.

But I guess it's possible that he experienced that one outlier event.

i fly out of IAH 3-4 times a month, and this is the only "advice" I can give:

its impossible to predict how the airport will be at any time or day.

I've gone at same time on same day in consecutive weeks, one time taking 15 minutes in traffic on site to get to the A/B parking garage, the other time there was hardly another car in sight.

I fly at least 40 segments a year for the past 12 years. I am not pre-check or clear. 9 times out of 10 i get threw premier access faster than my buddies in the other lines. This is mostly b/c i fly out of IAH and then smaller (non-frequented airports)

Every so often I get in a big airport without a premier line or first class line and it sucks. Reality of those situations is that i still get through security in mostly equal amounts of time.

2 hours for security is not possible outside of Orlando. Orlando is the most incoherent, terrible airport i've been to. The amount of idiots with strollers and middle school band trips is out of this world. And that still only takes 45 minutes.

Last time I went through C at IAH they told me as I got in the CLEAR line that pre-check was going much faster since they had 2 employees working

I only have CLEAR because it was free as a United 1K member, won't ever pay for that service

It was bad the day after the hurricane when they were short staffed and I believe only one terminal had tsa for security.

So, yeah. Maybe the day after the hurricane when 2 million people were without power was like a third world country

Honestly it was fine at the airport itself on that Tuesday, it was the act of getting there with no traffic lights that was awful

Same, I activated my CLEAR while in an extremely long Precheck line at SAN and was about to miss a flight.

I only use CLEAR if the Precheck lines are extremely backed up

Theres never a line for CLEAR at terminal B, and if there is a line its very small. I would highly recommend going through Terminal B from now on.

Totally agree about Orlando airport (MCO). Absolutely nothing makes sense there. I had a connecting flight in MCO a few weeks ago, and it took me an hour and a half to get from one terminal to another and my connecting gate. I had to go outside, take a shuttle, recheck in through security, take another shuttle, and walk a long way to my gate. Mind you, theres really no signs or instructions telling you how to get to the other terminal, I had to ask someone. In IAH or DFW, it takes you 5 minutes to get from one terminal to the next.

Thats the one US airport I cant stand flying out of, and not to mention the other travelers who frequent that airport.

MCO is the one airport I'd never fly into or out of on an airline other than Southwest. Aside from the five minutes it takes to get on the train, the security process with pre-check is pretty painless relative to the zoo that is MIA. That's by far my least favorite airport in the US. You get Caribbean level service without leaving the US.

Tell me more about these premier and first class lines through security?
evestor1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
premier security line is usually pretty standard in large airports. they only allow "premium" customers with some level of status (or just having a specific credit card.) it cuts down on the weekend travelers in front of you fumbling with an x-box in their carry on and wonder if they need to remove 2 liter bottles of Mountain Dew.

The easiest premium line i know about is in Atlanta. Their general security in North Terminal is bad ... then when you get all the way to the TSA you'll notice there is a premium line for 1st class tickets or flyers with status. So now when i go it takes me 5 minutes while my pre-check and clear buddies are 20-30 minutes.

Downside is you have to do normal security so take out iPads, shoes off etc

Got it. I'm gold with United but I don't think Ive ever seen a status line. I always use pre-check. And I'm typically only flying into and out of pretty small airports here and abroad.

the comment was about ATL's security. I go there often with friends / coworkers ... pre-check is bad there.

Ive never waited more than 15 minutes at IAH
