What street? I'm on Richelieu and the the south side of the street had power for about 5 minutes then it flickered a couple times then went back out.

My neighbors don't have power. For what ever reason there's a split between their house and mine where we might lose power but she doesn't or vice versa.

Thing is we never lost power during the storm, so it went off this evening for non- weather issues.

Neighbor's "tree guy" dropped a limb and it took out my internet cable.

Still no power want to be prepared for reactivation. The fiber pulled from house and junction box.

Is this something I can reconnect or will it need specialized tool/skill?

You can try but it's tough to get a good quality signal if you aren't skilled with fiber

To do it right, it's a specialized deal. Fiber is finicky.

You would need a fiber optic fusion splicer believe...not as simple as working with copper cabling.

Thanks all, just trying to get operational in event I get power.

I scheduled a service call for later this week, but fully expecting to get bumped due to all the damage.

Oddly the power went out near me. I got a text from CenterPoint saying there was an outage, but my power is still on. However when I walk outside, I can hear generators running.
We've had something similar a few times over the past 6 months were our power goes out randomly, and it's just my side of the street and the neighbors behind us on my side of their street. Nobody else in our little neighborhood. One time it was out for like 15 minutes and the other it was out for almost 24 hours. Still no clue why.

This is so true. After Ike, power was restored to almost my entire neighborhood within 3 or 4 days, but my small section of about 30 homes was without power for almost 3 weeks. It was because Centerpoint's system showed that we had power. It took me and my neighbors calling every day for them to send a crew over to fix it.

This is pretty much where I expect us to end up and why I'll win the pool.

For whatever it is worth, I was just informed by a center point customer service rep that crews are "in the area" (Oak Forest/Garden Oak).

There's a bunch of them on Brinkman, power just came on for the south side of my street, got the centerpoint call and email saying my power is back, but not yet.

If you want them out there now call and tell them you see sparks on the power pole.

I had a situation during the ice storms last year NW of Austin. PEC was fixing the line that feeds our rural road. And they thought that was that. But the fuse on my transformer had popped before the line went down. I came back and everyone has power except me.

I tracked down the line crew I had seen earlier, and told them guys I have a 4 and 2 year old with no power. I need you guys to come back. And thankfully they did.

But yea if their system says you are good. They aren't coming back unless you take it into your own hands.

Timbergrove got absolutely bent over.

I ran over there this weekend to get some stuff from a buddy who lives over there and I was shocked at how bad they got hit.

Looks about the same if not even worse than Ike.

Section in our neighborhood called over the weekend because a tree was leaning on the lines. Centerpoint cut their power and put them at the bottom of the list

Can't they see if you're online with smart meters?

Timbergrove needs a name change after this storm. Our street went from looking like a mature neighborhood full of water oaks to treeless track homes. Even my 18" diameter live oaks lost 1/3 -1/2 of their crown. The only bright side is I will now be able to grow grass in the back 1/4 of my yard that went from densely shaded to full sun.

Not fullproof. It said my power was on about an hour ago when it wasn't.

And on the topic of finals in SBISD:

Quote:

As of now, students are expected to complete final exams as planned when they return to school (except for seniors who will not need to take any further finals).

Final exam grades will be counted only if they positively impact the student's final class grade. Any exam that would negatively impact a student's final grade will not be counted.

On the insurance front, USAA is really on it after this storm. I had an adjuster out, estimate written, and check issued within 24 hours of filing my auto claim.
