I'm concerned the districts will cancel again tomorrow. The neighborhood streets are still a mess in far north dallas. They have cancelled for less in the past. Really hope I am wrong!
At this point, cancellations are less about roads and more about days they (the ISDs) have available to spare and projected attendance if they DON'T cancel. The first rule of thumb in cancellations is that if one district, particularly a big one, does it, everyone follows suit. They can't take a chance on attendance being too low or it will affect their state money. Some districts have built in snow days and will make it up President's Day and/or Good Friday. Others have extended hours and just absorb the days off. Still others blow it off and hope for a waiver from the state -- and they often get it.
With afternoon highs where they are now, 4+ hours of this should clear most roads in all but the most tree-lined neighborhoods. Even there, snow and slush buildup at the worst. I think ice patches are gone, or will be by this evening.
