Max has definitely become Shel2.0. Rusty and Max are classic "able to dish it out, but can't take it" which is the opposite of what a media personality should be. But not surprising….im sure either will call out my TexAgs handle next time I comment on their SM stupidity online.

I don't disagree, I just wouldn't do it…I don't care if it derailed my post…heck, if you read through the comments on history FB post there is a lot of derailment.
Social media is what it is. You run the risk of being blocked any time you reply to a post. That's part of what you signed up for when you agreed to play.

So I have had Rusty directly attack/answer me in a comment during a newscast he was anchoring. One of two possibilities: he is on SM during breaks, or he has flunkies doing his SM post. I am pretty sure it's the later not the former. Can you imagine Woodward or Bernstein having an intern on SM posting for them ?

I can imagine Woodward and Bernstein doing a lot…a lot of blocking if SM was around during Watergate and they were on it.

Also in each case, I presented facts and truth in a matter-of-fact manner and without malice. It crumbled their status update and highlighted their hypocrisy.
It was an immediate block.
They want to live in an echo chamber of perceived mental and moral superiority.
If I make a political status update and people say hateful things and challenge me on it, I'll discuss with them but I don't unfriend or block them unless they are just certifiably bat guano crazy, and there have been a couple of those.
But then again, I'm not thin-skinned.

Every time I try to engage with someone across the political aisle in a nonconfrontational way by giving facts, I typically get called a racist, sexist fascist. Im still trying to figure out how saying my half of my family immigrated here legally (the other half were either Native Americans or fought in the revolution) is racist or sexist, but Rusty liked the person's comment calling me a racist and sexist so it must be true...
Out of curioisty, when and where are these engagements occuring? An engagement over lunch or talking outside with a neighbor is very different than a family function where it quickly becomes personal.

Completely understand that is his personal account, but he is a public personality…my whole point is that I wouldn't block anyone, unless they are hateful…I wouldn't block opposing views.
I kind of assume that folks like Rusty and Max et al have both business accounts to purely post relevant matters (news stories, weather updates) and personal accounts to fight with strangers on social media. Smart thing to do it seems would be to disable comments on the former (unless they are elected officials, ie public servants) and leave them open on the latter. But whatever I guess.
Just don't point out that they post and turn off the comments to avoid being ratioed.

At least the station should post complete stories on their website. Unless they change them in the near future, the story about the location of the newest fire station is a mystery. Also the story about the football player who was exposed to paraquat does not include how the kid was exposed. There was another one but I lost interest in digging it up.
There will be no need for KBTX or local affiliates in 5 years. That station will eventually close completely by the 2030s.

While I get annoyed by Rusty's liberal viewpoint, it's clear he's unwilling to stop that. It is what it is. There's plenty of room for a conservative Rusty to rise on the scene as well.
This is what the future will look like in terms of local news coverage. KBTX will eventually go away, and the larger markets will pick up these local guys.

Their story on Fire Station #7 never mentions the location or even neighborhood of the fire station. Just "College Station ". Seems to be an omission to me …. I don't think anyone is doing any editorial function over there. No addition, omission, anything.

I've heard more then one person refer to him as our local Perez Hilton.
Already we're getting close to AI being able to present a highly realistic anchor who reads the news. The big holdup is computing power. To get that level of realism for a newscast every night takes too much compute to do it at reasonable cost right now.phillytex24 said:

ETA an Australian radio station has already experimented with an AI DJ and nobody noticed the difference. It's easier without video though.
