If there were high speed rail between Houston and Dallas with a stop in Roan's Prairie, it would only be a 30 minute commute from Houston (plus a ten minute bus ride) to the to Terafab in Carlos and only 45 minutes from Dallas.

Taylor HS is about 3-5 miles down the road to the loop around Taylor. There have been 2 subdivisions added by the HS but the plant is still surrounded by farm land.

Hutto started growing when they put the toll road through the West side of town. They had a 20 year start on Taylor in terms of business and housing growth. When I graduated Hutto was 1A and Taylor was 3A. Hutto has been 6A for a couple of realignment cycles and Taylor is 4A. The area has always had a significant Hispanic population. When I graduated it was approx 60% white/35% Hispanic/5% black. I can see where families in town were taxed out of their homes. Most of them probably needed work inside too. Hutto named streets after family names from its recent past.

Taylor and Thrall are in the most eastern part of Williamson county and are still pretty rural. However they are extending a toll road towards this area and I expect to see the same development Hutto had.

I appreciate that background. When my family returned from Iran, we came home to Texas, in Katy. The Grand Parkway didn't exist. My friends and I would take our shotguns and .22 rifles and go plinking where Cinco Ranch is today. Fulshear was a few farmhouses.

There is something lost when we grow, no doubt. I guess where I'm at is growth is inevitable and cannot be stopped. Our children and grandchildren deserve their shot at prosperity too. The best we can do is work together to protect our sense of home and pride in community- and grow smart.

Our own train builders are doing a fantastic job of spending other people's money to get nothing accomplished. Gavin might want to take lessons from Texas Central Railway. The difference is that Gavin is stealing from U.S. taxpayers. TCR took the Japanese on a financial ride to nothingness.

As a matter of fact, my actual first name has been leaked on this website quite recently by another poster. But it was without malice, and my point is that unless you can make a case that you are using public information specifically for harassment purposes (journalists publishing lists of Trump voters and/or gun owners in blue areas, which they've done before) the onus is on whoever uses that information (after all, phone book companies weren't liable for crank calls).

Where this sort of thing comes into actual legal practice is implicating everyone on civil or criminal charges upstream of when a crime occurs. If you sold your car to a man who later used it to run down his ex-wife, I don't think YOU should be charged with anything if you weren't informed of this crime ahead of time...but some people will argue against that.

Besides, publishing just numbers is hardly an issue, especially since you'd need even look up names in the first place...and on the CAD level, the names of sensitive individuals (judges, LEOs) are already redacted.

I wasn't even talking about the legality of things.
I've seen people go crazy in deals where they had 4-6 zeros next to their name/company. I can't image what happens to people when they see 7-10 zeros.
I've also seen people go crazy when they thought their land was being stolen. People can find ways to rationalize anything if they really want to.
Last thing I want on my conscious is something happening to grandma and/or grandpa doe because of something I did.
Again, we're all just cheerleaders here and that ain't changing for me anytime soon AFAIK.
And I'm not insinuating that anybody is or would do anything. I just haven't seen a deal this big this close to home. Some of the oil farmers that became rich overnight over the last decade can probably relate but even that's peanuts compared to the scale of this.

Some frequent poster who can't string a sentence together all of a sudden comes up with a voluminous, correctly structured post, claiming it as her own but still hasn't figured out how to eliminate the postscript which indicates it was at least partially constructed with AI.

Grimes County currently ranks 120th out of 254 Texas counties for property valuation. If this deal goes through, they'd be catapulted to 15th in the state.

To put this in perspective, College Station's taxable valuation is about $14b. Grimes would be $60b if this gets built, in Phase 1 alone.

Initital $10MM within 60 days of signing, and $20MM/year for 35 years is what they said in the hearing. And that doesn't include the schools, which is a separate deal.

Know of a family who has approx 300 acres in the area they bought a few years ago. They have been offered 6X what the paid for it.
