I have heard that a huge employer is about to announce something in this area soon. Supposed to be one of the largest employers in Brazos county. Anyone know what it is? And no, I am not talking about the announcement made the other week about GlaxoSmithKline, this is supposed to be larger.

SEVERAL months ago I heard on the radio that there was a company coming in that would create hundreds to thousands of jobs in B/CS. I THINK it was an olive oil company? Sounds silly, I know but when I heard it, I thought the same. Not sure if we are even talking about the same thing.

gave me a double-take, given that the population of Brazos County entire is ±2.5 "hundred thousands" and ±82% of the available workforce is employed . . . so there would be a bit of a housing crunch when those hundreds of thousands moved in.
AggieWife2008, that place started construction already in a Bryan Business Park (I think in North Bryan). It was a company based out of Mexico and I think the US headquarters would be in Bryan? But this is something new that I am think will be in the Bio-corridor.

No worries! I wasn't even sure on the job count haha! BCSTX06, didn't know they started building! When they first talked about it, they made it seem like it was a huge thing coming in but I don't know. I would agree though that what you are talking about would be in the bio corridor.

I don't know the name but it is a large company. My sister in law got called in for interview and has o get her food handlers permit. They make cooking oil.
I believe that's who's building a new office/warehouse on 6 north of 2818.
I hear that Carls Jr. is still coming to the area. I heard that 2 or 3 are coming to Bryan. I understand that they are looking at areas to build right now. I do know that 3 to 4 restaurants are being built close to the new WalMart in west Bryan. Also, more restaurants are being planned close to Bryan Target. Maybe those locations are being considered for Carl's Jr.
Coming soon sign is up for Walgreen's at Caprock Crossing (SH 40/SH 6). Not sure how long it's been there but I'm glad to see it's finally coming.
Noticed yesterday night that Kobe Steak & Sushi was closed. There was a large piece of marble (about 3 feet by 3 feet) that was partially broken, wondered about using it for something, but then decided it's owned by someone.
Unlike Greg D. of Yelp who was whipped into a frenzy that this was H-E-B's fault somehow, I think the rename a year ago was signs of bad things to come.
Also noticed that Early Bird Cleaners shut down sometime after the demise of Albertsons. You can still see through EBC to the closed Albertsons.

Had to go on Yelp to see what you were referring to. Wow that was some serious crazyness there!
I am not surprised Kobe went under as frankly it just wasn't very good and got "out-sushi'd" by all the more recent places.
Guessing we are NOT getting a Sprouts after all? Was over in the area where it was supposed to go in, and there is nothing happening with the building. Their website makes no mention of an opening in College Station now. Sigh.
As I understand it currently, Sprouts will open in 2014. I was a little surprised as you were to see the building still intact, complete with the brands on the doors.
They just announced not too long ago. These things take time to get through all the govt. red tape and corporate processes. Look at the time it took for the new private school going in on Hwy 6 near Tower Point, or the time it took for Walmart to begin work on their neighborhood market. These things don't just pop up a month after announcement.
Toolshed, I am the owner of the Primrose School currently under construction in Tower Point. You could not be more accurate. Getting the school approved for the build was an arduous process.
Hopefully, someday, both cities will do more than pay token lip service to the concept of assisting business as opposed to seemingly impeding progress. (edited: a little harsh)

Wait ... So either the CoCS is in developers pockets or they are a hindrance. I guess it depends on what day it is on here.
The process of getting a business built can be very long going through planning and zoning or very short depending on who it is. The Bryan Target was built very fast. I believe that Bryan waived just about all the permits to get it built fast. The Neighborhood WalMart grocery store took forever to get through the process. However, the westside Super WalMart went through the process extremely fast.
CS New Development says RV Station is looking at a spot South of the new Walgreens at 40/6. Not sure of the exact location, google maps can be a little iffy.
This is not a new business but a new service. NTN/Buzztime trivia is now available at Boston's Pizza. It has long been at Buffalo Wild Wings and for the last year at Wolfie's. The Tap has it too, but for the life of me I don't know why they pay the fee as days and days go by without anyone playing there.
Boston's has had trivia in many stores. This one didn't have it. Perhaps it is a result of the change from being a franchised store to a corporate owned one.

I saw a sign on Wellborn Road this morning just north of the Post Office for a new yoga studio, where there used to be an antique shop and then it was a monument/headstone business, and maybe a couple of other things.

I understand from another thread that Rooster's has now closed. So, you can take it off the recently opened list on the first page and move it to the recently closed.
I guess it's kind of nice when you can just cut and paste a business's place on a list rather than have to type the whole name out.

The place where Rooster's was just seems to be jinxed. I know several people that tried out Rooster's. They didn't like it. Very limited menu and high prices for what you got. Nothing seems to make it there.
Great Wraps is coming to Northgate via the Rise at Northgate.
