Monkismyhero, the fried shrimp at Shipwreck are pretty fine. Gulf shrimp, nice size, corn meal breading.

Judging by the construction fencing and the equipment sitting in the fence, it looks like the old Cavendars (in front of Toys R Us) is about to be torn down. Seems about right, it's been pretty much empty since Cavendars built their own building on the by-pass.
The CVS at Northgate should be open by today (a sign posted last week said it was opening 9/29). Full eyewitness reports to follow...
EDIT: The food selection blows any nearby convenience store out of the water.

As Northgate becomes more of a "real" neighborhood with the addition of the CVS, Parker-Astin Hardware in downtown Bryan sent a letter to its customers informing them that it would be going out of business and liquidating the inventory...

Wow. Not surprised, but a little sad. I remember asking an old guy working there for an obscure part one time. He walked over to a bin and picked it right out. Much better level of service than Lowe's or Home Depot.

Well they control the land. Hope they don't lease it out to another restaurant. I'll say this, not many more places will open up near Restaurant Row close to the bypass. If they're gonna build a Pappadeaux's, that's the place to put it.
I was told explicitly it would be a Pappadeux and not Pappasito's or Pappas Bros. Despite the TRUSTworthy source, I remain a tad skeptical...
Man, it would suck if they converted it into a new location of Luby's.

Pappas Bros Steakhouse would not be an option in this market. Average price per person is updwards of $60 a person & there would need to be near max reservations every night.

Totally agree. People who think The Republic is "kinda expensive for this town" should take a close look at Pappas Brothers' menu online.

Eh. The Texan did quite well in Bryan for many years at comparable prices.
Your memory is fading, techno, or you never actually ate at The Texan. Prices were a fraction of those at Pappas.

Stow your fantasy, we are assuredly not getting a Pappas. This area has one high end (sort of) steakhouse and it absorbs all the traffic such a business is likely to get around here for the foreseeable future.
Of course if growth patterns indicate we will one day merge with Houston then yes, perhaps, a Pappas steakhouse will open here.
