And I screwed up on Moose - didn't realize I had signed up for $100 fee. At age 60, I'll never build enough points to hunt moose in Co. Guess I contributed to the resource for some you young men out there

Congrats on the tag, I'm looking to burn 8 CO Elk points next year either archery or first rifle and have a few units in mind. Life events have kept us from drawing and feel like we are in no mans land to maximize our points. Oh well, we still get to archery hunt OTC every year.........for now.

There's definitely elk in them hills down there. I've seen plenty over the years along the roads. I think they tend to be a little more seasonal, catch them when they migrate through. Always some resident herds to play with- but they are pressured and pretty smart. Late season 771 can be a slaughter-fest. Archery can be brutal. All depends on weather.

What elevation are you seeing them at in mid Archery season?

Just buy the can stuff. I've never used it because "I'll never need it" but proceed to suck wind at 12,000 and feel like I'm dying.

Found out 2 months ago that I've got a baby on the way. Due date Nov 16. Kinda screwed up my plan for 3rd OTC.

Going to put in 2nd choice for a couple units for bull elk 1st rifle. If that doesn't work, looks like dove is all I get this year.

Unit 48 second rifle for elk! Love to hear if anyone has experience in this unit. Buddy has hunted it before but I haven't been yet.

Well, I got the complete goose egg package in the draw this year, but my wife pulled a hybrid draw bull elk tag for 61 first rifle with 6 point. She pulled a 3rd buck tag for for the home place in 63 too. Looks like she is going to be on the hook to fill the freezer this year.

Between me and my dad we have:
2 archery Colorado unit 49,50,500 antelope tags
1 archery Colorado elk 500 tag
2 rifle season three Colorado mule deer unit 50,501
1 general Montana combo. (Going archery elk early Oct)

This is a redemption year. Last year we went 0-4 on tags.
My dad passed on some archery bulls being too conservative in my opinion. I arrowed an old 6x6 w great mass but stubby tines. Hit the bull in the shoulder and my broadhead broke off at the thread. No penetration. The bull ran 200 yards and started bugling and running cows again, lol. I had about 30 seconds of exhilaration and then massive disappointment when I realized what happened.

Our other two tags were rifle mule deer and we couldn't find a single mature buck.

I've been obsessing pretty hard for this year!

No wonder I can't get a tag!

Uhhhh yeah. They cut tags 40 to 60% cause of winter kill.

Was worried about landowner voucher chances out east this year for Buck antelope. Guess I got lucky, received 3 Vouchers out of 10 applied for.

Jesus that is crazy. We left the Saturday before Thanksgiving in the middle of the night to beat the first winter storm. Little did we know that was the start of a historical winter season. Sucks big times.

We have seen a reduced number of mule deer north of Hayden (thought it was the cats maybe) over the last three years so we have moved to just getting points. I'm perfectly fine to take a year or two off to let both elk and mule deer herds rebuild. It's going to suck not going this year but worth the short term pain for the long term gain.

I had 19 points for elk, as a Colorado resident. Tried for 76 early rifle. I knew my chances were 50/50. But I hoped. Drew deer last year, so knew I wouldn't. Like to hunt 49/50/500 for pronghorns, but I am a lot of years away from drawing it again.

I saw someone else mentioned they drew it archery for pronghorn. Killed 2/3 with a bow when I hunted there with a bow. Would've been 3/3, had a doe in range, and it was an either sex tag, but I needed 5 steps to get in range of a really good buck. I got 3 and a half.

Putting in for the secondary draw really just for the points with the plan to hunt otc (maybe 26 or 25), but man that 100% draw rate in 77 sure is tempting

North of Sheep Mt and Middle Mt. is a sexy area.

Been e a scouting the hell out that area between sheep mountain and flat top mountain. I really want to top out Derby peak for ****s and giggles. That area north of dome peak is interesting too

You may have a lot of friends on Derby in Muzzie season. We can chat later but I think winter kill will drive some people away in the NW. With that said, you have knowledge and experience in the area so you have an upper hand on more people up there than not.

I ended up drawing Montana Gen Elk and Colorado Archery Deer. I'm excited about the fall. Unlikely, but hoping to find time to scout Colorado in late July.

I'm 99.9% sure you're correct.

Drew 3rd season rifle mule deer unit 54. Took 14 points to draw the 3rd rifle. Hoping for snow in the higher elevations to push down some bigger bucks. Good luck to all that got tags.
