I can promise you that anything under 100 degrees is going to feel great. But, I just checked the forecast and nothing over 78 projected for my hunt, thank the lord!

Im sure I will be *****ing come January about the snow. Thankfully its my last winter here and I only need to look out for heatstroke for a while.

Small world. I am staying there Thursday nite. Only 10 min from there right now. Guide, my 15 yo daughter killed a big one up here last year and shes coming back for rifle. I am working to out do her but either way I win.

Yeah, and people getting ready to go up to the Flat Tops via Trappers or CR8. Met several groups at the fly shop that were getting stuff and spending a few days acclimating and then heading up Sunday to the high country. This weekend will be insane in Meeker with the holiday, and all the groups coming in for guided or spike camp hunts.

As a reminder, as you travel, don't leave your gear in the truck if you stop over night. We are heading to Chama, NM for a hunt… stopped for the night in Amarillo… and had one of our trucks broken into. They stole two bows and two backpacks (full of optics, range finders, knives, etc.). Learn from our stupid and expensive mistake, take your gear in to your hotel room. Amarillo PD made it sound like this is an every night occurrence. Now we are off to try to find/buy new bows in Albuquerque or Santa Fe.

Really sorry to hear that. I think they have a good bow shop in Amarillo that should be able to fix you up.

Yeah, would never have done this back at home… but you get out of Houston and you assume crime isn't as bad… we got lazy and let our guard down. Now my brother and nephew have to buy bows, arrows, releases, everything and site them in before tomorrow morning's opening day… that's tough on the ol' confidence.

It was at the Holiday Inn Express West. Nice hotel but they don't have any cameras on the exterior. The lady at the front desk acted like it happens all the time.

Backed my truck into park spot for coffee and never saw this cow until stepping out of truck.

If you don't find any in Santa Fe, head to the Ski & Bow Rack in Pagosa. One of the best bow tech's in the 4 corners works there. 1 hour from Chama.

I'm sure you can find something in SF though.
