Made to the hunting area in Southern Colorado. Mule deer be ware starting in 10 hrs.
Made it to CO! Heading out tomorrow morning at 5:00am for hunt 1. Here I come elk!

Ttha and others, speaking of which… tailgating tonight/tomorrow which is great and all in its own right…but I can smell and see the trees, elevation, animals and work which will get me through the next 10 weeks (dang…), so make us jealous in a good way!!!

Not yet. Still very much looking. My grandad passed away, which is sad, but also frees my Dad up to be able to travel now and not worry. I think next year would be perfect for him. Any rec's appreciated.
Been chasing this guy for the last few days. 12,800 to 13,200 takes a toll on the body.
Been covering 5-6 miles a day with lots of elevation changes. My resting heart rate was 98 laying in the tent. I left the peaks this afternoon and when I hit about 11000 feet I felt like my lungs were finally getting oxygen. Strange. My resting heart rate is 63 now at 9300. Had me a little freaked out. Not as young as I used to be.
I have not seen the deer in the last 5 days and have checked every close basin by 8:30. In the morning every day. I think he might have already timbered. He'll be back. It's just a matter if I can take it.
Feeling pretty good now but I know I should rest a day.

Also, I hate that Colorado is using Sept 2 as opening for mule deer. It sucks. If you have points wait until the change the dates to earlier like it used to be. This deer was very killable earlier.

Thank you! He was a very good bull - especially for my first archery bull.
Write up will come in the next couple of days. Had a fellow texag poster with me and wouldn't have done it without him!
