How's everyone doing in preparation for their western hunts this season? I did some running around at the deer lease this weekend spot and stalling pigs and was okay. Also did a little bit of hiking and that went well. I have been slacking on my cardio but I'm not too worried about it right now.


I think I've developed a solid base by lifting , running 2 miles and doing mobility stuff all once a week. Going to slowly add on stair climber and rucking this summer. Then throw in some Hotworx type stuff in sept leading up to hunt.

Awesome! I'm definitely going to step up my running and increase frequency and duration on stair climber. Been hard to add another 20-30 minutes to workouts with kid stuff going on. Need to start running in the morning or something.

Yes, you are correct. I did muzzleloader at the base of the Kaibab in AZ too. Saw some decent 160-170" bucks, but no big boy, unfortunately. Most of the deer hadn't migrated down off the plateau yet. Missed it by about a week.

I know they drew for bear yesterday. Deer today, elk tomorrow? Can't remember how it has normally gone the last few years. Waiting to see if I'm using up my 6 elk ponts.

I cant wait to see draw results in the winter kill zones.. Stepdad and I both got drawn in 0 point deer units this year. 4 of my 9 clients have already text me saying they got deer tags as well. These are all in winter kill reduction units.

Best of luck to you! I hope to see a report of one of the monsters lurking up there. A few of the bigger wild elk I've seen have been in 77.

Rifle 1 in 77. Knew I was going to draw bc I had a handful of points. But my buddy convinced me to burn them to hunt Justin's high camp. He was over the moon with his hunt with him last year for otc rifle3
