I'm just trying to imagine what its like on a reservation.

People be showing up one day at high school in a 350 platinum.

Seems like a breaking bad universe type scam.

but where on earth are you getting srt8s and platinum f350s from?

I'm trying to figure out what kind of vehicle would be most popular on an Indian reservation if you were to drive a vehicle off the lot with no intention of paying for it.

Those just seem like popular choices.

That and the 4WD Tacomas would be my guess.

If you are going to run this scam, you better not come back with a corolla or a damn dodge neon.

If you are gonna do it, you got to go big,

Stat go back to the post bringing up the subject. The auto dealers won't even let them test drive much less finance a car. You're in a no where rabbit hole. They ain't getting free cars or trucks

At a minimum people got to be driving a lot of old rental cars.

Go rent a car and drive it back to the house.
SteveBott

And how will they rent? You honk they have credit cards?

The only real development worth talking about today was that Dog the bounty hunter now is on the case.

And yet you managed to take a slight derail which was extremely interesting about life on reservations and take it to the stupidest depth possible

All I know about reservations is no one will give them credit. They buy a car and take it to the reservation and it can't be repoed. Same for anything they buy and take home. It's a big joke.
This is a big problem. When you go on to reservations, at least the ones I'm familar with, everyone lives in trailers. The reason why is since the land is owned by the tribe no one can get a home loan. This has a huge effect on the economy of the tribes:
  • your home is the number 1 way that families accumulate generational wealth. No wealth can therefore be passed down generationally
  • You are paying for a product that losses value over time
  • Without an actual house, and because they lose value no one invests in renovation or bettering their property ie, limited work for plumbers, contactors, and blue collar jobs
  • summation, socialism sucks

I guess the answer is stop ripping off creditors and you could get a loan. Build a home etc

Seems simple
No, it's not about ripping people off. It's that the land doesn't belong to them. It belongs to the tribe and can't be repo'ed. There for there is nothing to secure the loan. Imagine asking a bank for a loan to build a house on land you don't own, and can offer nothing to secure the loan. Even honest people can't get a loan.

Back to the subject - could the parents purposely tipped off the police that their distraught son fled to the swamp preserves? Does a couple things - makes cops waste time and resources searching that huge area, time to get far away. Also when nothing is found - blame the gators - write him off as dead, while he's living another live in Cabo, South America, etc.

Curious about their "camping trip" a couple days before he went missing. Could they have taken supplies someplace where he is now "hiding"?

They had plenty of time to get burner phone, cash, etc. But guess FBI has already been down that road?

That's my thought as well. Is there any evidence that he went to the reserve other than his parents?

This is a dude who's greatest ambition was to work at an organic farm in Oregon in exchange for a free place to live out of their van. He's the perfect example of someone who could disappear into the shadows. Hell maybe they should be checking around the organic farms in Oregon?

At this point, I think it is highly likely. I'm sure he came home freaked out and tried to claim it as an accident. His parents believe him (technically could be true) and see how he is being convicted by the public and decide there is no way he is gonna get a fair trial. I'd bet that he is now in a foreign country (likely Central or South America somewhere). I'd also bet that the lawyer helped as well.

Very possible. Either way, I think the lawyer knows what went down (getting him out of country) and likely helped (getting him cash / supplies / travel arrangements without stuff hitting the parent's account).

I'm pretty sure that the lawyer would become an accessory if he helped the client flee the country.

I doubt that he'd be willing to do that.

When you want to disappear, you don't call a lawyer, you call the vacuum repairman.

This all makes sense. Why go out there to kill yourself - just do it at home. And I totally agree with what he said about the parents - they don't seem concerned at all - at least outwardly. I really think they helped him get a big head start somewhere. But he has to run out of money sometime, right? Maybe not, if he ended up in a foreign country where he could lay low and get a job.

Agree with the rancher; he is not in the reserve.

He is gone...as Dog surmises, likely somewhere in Appalachia.

You may be right about the destination but if he was legit looking to stay out of prison, the smart move would have been to book it to Mexico figure out how to get a fake passport and then either head somewhere in Central or South America and disappear or see if you can't get a job on a boat headed to Indonesia, Asia (Nepal, Vietnam), Northern Africa (Morocco) or Russia.

I think we can all agree dumbo here isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. With that being said he couldn't make it out of the country now. He had his window of opportunity he either took it or didn't

Who the hell is looking for him? Most people think he is stuck in a swamp in Florida. No one outside the local area is really on the lookout.

Besides, if he has half a brain,. We're on the lookout for a dude wearing a gaiter and a hat. Pretty freaking hard to identify him.
