I can't wait. Got a trip next month outta Marco Island (probably just for snook but one can hope) and another in June in KW.

Mind sharing who you are fishing with in Marco? I love targeting snook and could use another guide rec in the area.

Went to Tarpon Caye years ago and caught a ton of bonefish, chased some huge permit and had one massive strike (no fish) and didn't catch a single tarpon even though they're stacked like plywood in the lagoon.

Too many bait balls and couldn't get a look from a tarpon. (6) guys, (5) days and not one tarpon.

Tons of snapper on a fly and they have snorkel equipment to spear a few lobsters for breakfast or dinner.

Overall a very memorable trip. Look forward to seeing your tarpon photos.

Thanks Cool Hand. Got a good permit and a bunch of bones in 2019 off San Pedro. Expecting the tarpon migration to be active in May.

What are those things sticking up the bow?

They have something to do with keeping the fly line from getting all tangled up from what I understand.

They help keep the fly line from sliding off the skiff and into the water.



The alternative is to use spiked mats, but they are a big hassle and can blow off the deck when it's really blowing.



The line spikes are getting more and more popular in the Keys. I avoided putting them on my skiff for a long time, but finally did this winter. I'm very happy with them.

I'm still in the 'avoiding' crowd, but when I went to LA for bull redfish the guide had them.... and it has made it increasingly hard to hold the line. They work.
