I do this as part of my living.

That buck is probably high 140's.

Nice buck just the same.

I dont do this for a living but I can age a deer better then most I know and you guys saying this is a 140 class buck need to put a calculator to it.

The rack is deceiving b/c the deer looks like a 135lb deer in all reality that buck weight about 175lbs.

my guess is this:

it's going to be a helluva lot easier to score that bad boy dead on the ground. shoot the SOB.

Colt - your figures:

_________
It adds up like this
Left side. 18 in of mass
G1-3 in
G2-10 in
G3- 10 in
G4- 7 in (drop time)
Beam 27 in
Total lft. 75 in

Double that on right

75+75=. 150 + 25in spread = 175
______________

Left side:
18 in mass? Buck has average mass. Maybe 13-14"

I agree on your G1, G2, G3 and the drop.

Give you 23 on the main beam

Total - 67

Right side is smaller.

mass about the same at maybe 14
G1 about the same
G2 and G3 - 7" each roughly
G4 looks like about 4" in second photo
main beam about the same at 23.

Total - 58

inside spread - 22 ish

147 gross

I could be wrong.

Very nice spread and the kicker is nuts.

Ill bet my left nut that deer does not score over 170. If that deer scores over 170 then I have passed up a butt load of record book deer.

Colt, you really think that deer has 36" of mass....that deer has average mass at best. Your 27" beams are way high too. I don't see a single tine on the right side that pushes 8".

Ok if you use the eye as a bench mark then an eye is about 4.5". His beems are clearly heavier than his eyes. This bucks is pushing 6" bases. Aggswin. this buck is bigger than any deer if every seen in tilden. There is something about this picture that makes the buck look smaller. It kinda has the canada effect. When I was laying in the road and it almost walked on top of me. The buck I have on my wall grosses a hair over 160 and this buck blows it away. His tines are in the 12in range on left and 10in on right. His beams are every bit of 27". That7 point you shot a few years ago had 27" beams. His are every bit as long.

RB post a pic of the 8 point you shot and lets see how wide everyone thinks he is.

Also post the pic of the buck from 5 and let them score him.

I am sure you all are very good at judging deer but you guys are way off. these images are pulled from video that i have, so they aren't the best quality. the lowest anyone that has actually seen this deer is 170 and the highest is 209. Now granted i don't think it is going to score anywhere near 190 but it is closer to 190 than 147. I wish i had better pictures to show you.

here is the picture of an 8 that i shot that Colt asked for.

The buck from 5 will be a different thread for a different day. I can't waste all of my material in just one day. deer season isn't till October.

I need to post a pic of my pecker on here. By this thread, I bet I got 22" packed away. I just always thought it was around 3". I won't even get into discussing the mass and base.

Urban, thanks for doing all the math and stuff to justify the second post on this thread.

As an aside, hell, the boys over at 2cool score (okay, try to score) bucks all the time without all this fanfare.

at first sight I say 155. in person would help with that. the spread looks decent. tines aren't spectacular. drop tine helps.

RB - I'm not going to get much further into this but all I will say is that the buck in question is nowhere near 160 or better. Photos can be decieving, no question, but the mass and tines length, clearly visible in the photos just doesn't support that kind of scoring. It just is what it is.

The way all the other scores are going on here, that buck in velvet has got to be within an inch or two of 220 gross.

Expect quite a bit of 'ground shrinkage' if you pull the trigger on this buck & expect him to be anywhere close to 190.

This is a nice typical 9 with a beautiful drop tine. What he is seriously lacking is tine length. He ain't got enough to break 160... maybe enough to scratch 150.

I've got this buck around 145.

This is laughable. Colt you need some deer judging lessons.
aggzwin

Colt, seriously compare that deer to a picture of any other deer that scores between 175-200. There is no comparison, I don't care how you look at it.

Is that the "180 class" buck you were talking about seeing last year?

I think we all kind of agree on tine length.
Where we disagree is the mass, beam, and spread. every time i look at this deer i see 26" inside. I took it into photo shop and pulled out an ear (roughly 6" ) and 4.75 of them fit inside the spread. I looked back thru what i have and I can't get a good non blurry profile photo so you can see the main beams better. But they have got to be better than 22.
