Also, I got the deluxe version and the upfront armor etc is worth it IMO. Feels weird looking so decked out to begin the game tho ha

Game is mid at best. Terrible story, disjointed world/setting, bland art design, and combat that's not even remotely compelling. Main character is just some generic design devoid of personality.
Totally unmemorable, if anything the review scores are far too generous. Checklist, middling, open world title that lacks any soul or character.
Some people do like it though so more power to you, just not for me at all. It's like another Starfield situation all over again but worse.

Sounds like you aren't far enough in, but I'm also just getting back into gaming after playing nothing but sports games for a decade. To each his own. The story is indeed mid, but the level of exploration and scale is 10/10

First big patch notes. they are reacting quickly and a lot of these will help tremendously. good to see a game company be very in tune with players' thoughts and issues.

game has gotten slightly better for me after getting used to more of the controls. Finished that excavator boss. Ok fight but to finish the quest, you have to kill a bazillion bandits. That seemed very unnecessary and a time waster.

I though I could complete the quest by sneaking to the boss but that didn't work. Still had to kill a ton of bandits to finish the quest.
I hadn't upgraded health yet or actually anything else at the time. For the boss, just don't be greedy and also when it goes underground, just run.
I thought the boss fight was about right. I like soulslikes so I don't mind the challenge.

You will be pissed to know (as I was) that instead of Ramboing it, if you had waited till your new camp was setup you could have sent the Greymane in to deal with it and help you.

new camp you say? is that following the storyline quests, or improv?

There is all kind of **** you can do that the game doesnt tell you.
Tree in your way? Force palm it down.
Need to jump higher? You can force palm 3x after you jump to rocket towards.
Need to hide? You can slide under carts, hide in hay, or climb up in a ****ing tree.
You can lasso a tree and pull it back to turn yourself into a catapult.
I've got 20 hours and still in 1st zone.zgolfz85 said:
I can't believe the developers say this is a 60-90 hour game on average. I feel like it will be well north of 200 for people who truly get into it

I've been mostly trying to organically stumble into these things, but there's so much that I need to do some research too. Are you stumbling on all of this, or looking stuff up?

something I'm beginning to realize is the process of building your character's abilities is WAY more in depth than I previously thought. You can get way off in the weeds of upgrading weapons and abilities to maximize your combat effectiveness and everything else.
