Amazed no thread about this. Launches this Thursday. Huge open world with a map around 2x as big as Skyrim's. Suppose to be optimized pretty well for consoles but naturally will look amazing on newer pcs.

Cautiously optimistic. Until it's actually published/playable, I still have it in the too-good-to-be-true category.

Reviews from journalists are split. Need to let actual gamers chime in for a ruling.

Early reviewers are bombing it because its bosses are too hard or the puzzles require a double digit iq to solve lol

Just got a ps5 pro to buy this game after not having had a console for a decade plus. Feels like I'm gonna be learning to walk again

Played a few hours on PC. The game is beautiful and runs pretty well.

Gameplay wise its basically "**** you, figure it out". The controls are absolutely going to take a while to get used to.

The user interface for menus, settings, inventory, and gear is horrible though. I have no idea why quest items, all consumables, recipes, and loot share one stingy bag either. I know it's expandable and eventually they are adding a storage chest, but yeesh.

I dont mind the lack of hand holding though, and its a neat concept that you get more bag space and learn skills through quests, challenges, and just observing the goings on of the world than just grinding up.

Your last sentence is actually pretty common in games in my experience. The thing that gives me pause is the controls. I am terrible at using or making combos work in games that get complicated with their fighting skills. I just don't have the muscle memory to remember R1+R2+X+R3+R1 is a suplex move. It's too much.

Played a couple hours last night. I'm not a gamer, so I'm still just blown away by how far we've come in 2026. Having a great time so far though. I've run into some glitchy stuff, but to be expected in an open play world that's so insanely huge. The fighting is a bit confusing, but there hasn't been any fighting training yet. The graphics are insane on ps5 pro.

got it late last night on xbox and only played a few minutes

The controls are what I'm most worried about. Anyone play it enough yet to say that the controls actually makes sense? I think I had to press RB+RT at the same time for something.

I thought the same. The controls open up as you go, which probably should be mentioned somewhere so that we don't all have these early impressions. Like it would be nice to know that you can't even jump until the game allows you to jump lol

Its probably going to be better on KB and mouse in the long run because there are so many damn buttons and combos of buttons. It was way better to move the block and evade buttons from control and alt to my mouse thumb triggers, especially since the block button is the same as focusing on something.

Yeaaah, I might be out then. I don't do games with K&M anymore unless they are slower point and click games.

And I'm not smart enough for all of these controller combos there apparently are.

it's getting dogged on the base ps5. on Pro, I'm digging it. Looks sharp, not overly l****

The negative reviews I am seeing is mostly the fetchy type of quests gameplay loop. Which I guess makes sense considering these guys made MMORPGs before this. The best summation I have seen yet is that this is NOT the next Skyrim which is what I think a lot of people were hoping for. But more of a slower grind out a perfect character using tried and true methods from the MMO side of things. Which I don't mind personally.

I'll wait for the first sale and then probs pick it up then. Looks super interesting.

I have no issues with jank or awkward movement in a game but they have I have heard the controls described in this game have holding off until they hopefully add in remapping or more traditional schemes

Yeah I imagine we'll see a ton of performance patches, so not too worried about it personally. They seem very in tune with user experience feedback compared to most developers

Game feels way better on mouse and keyboard if you change mouse acceleration to 100%. It gets rid of the heavy feeling.

I take umbrage that your reputation with a clan decreases for stealing even when nobody sees you. I guess its basically Karma.

IMO, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the "next Skyrim". It's a fantastic game, but no dragons.

Im having fun with it despite the jank in it right now.

Pros:
- Beautiful most of the time.
- Music is solid.
- Combat is fun once you get the hang of the controls.

Cons:
- No story to speak of.
- Animations are weird.
- Lots of graphical fuzz, glittery artifacts and pop in.

Its hard to compare it to any one game. It tries to take pieces from lots of games.

The game feels like the stepchild of Red Dead 2, the Witcher and Elden Ring.

I am 9 hours in. I have no idea what I am doing as I just wander around picking up bounty posters and killing dudes while riding my horse.

It is the best of an open world game that is designed for adventurers.

If you like tightly scripted worlds with boss battles around each corner, you will struggle with this one.

If you are a fan of Skyrim, this game is a lot of that.

I like the Skyrim comparison as I'm not generally a fan of go fight the next big boss fan of gaming.

Looking at the launch trailers and videos on Steam though it looks like they've taken elements from multiple different genres and crammed it into one big open world game. I see fantasy, sci-fi, technology, western, etc all in one game. Like it's a multi-dimensional cross over Dark Tower or something.

I am stealing enough money to invest in the bank to become a venture capitalist. Steal the gold bar from the fireplace in Lioncrest Manor, loot the vault at the bank, collect some bounties to have 100 silver and 1 gold bar. Invest in the bank.....PROFIT for the remainder of the game.

got it over the weekend and have probably 10 hours in it. (Wife was sick so it was a lazy weekend) Love this game. Like that it doesn't hold your hand. My thoughts on controls is every game pretty much has its own controls so just have to learn this game's . The scale is dumbfounding. It is GORGEOUS on the PS5.

My only complaint is storage and menu interaction. But I will chalk that up to learning the best navigation around it and perhaps they will have some quick path patches coming out. Very excited to spend a lot of time with this one. It feels like Zelda (BOTW/TOTK) and Skyrim rolled into an amazing world together. Basically the best of choose your own adventure with some good variance in combat difficulty.

You can sell them to certain vendors. I found one yesterday but don't recall which one. I'm trying to figure out how to package them up to sell more easily.

2nd'd. This is the first time in a long time I've gotten in on the beginning/this close to launch of this type of game. Worth it IMO to get started with it.

Nah buy it now. You won't be sorry. They're 4 days in and have already done a patch and will continue to. He'll, I'd buy it just for the scenery alone
