That happened to me on a couple of tries where he'll get to the very edge and just stop. I think the key is to hit him when he's walking back to towards the edge

I've never played any souls/from soft games before and was hesitant to pick this up just because of the reputation of the other games as being hard and bash your head against a wall until you succeed or give up.

But I'm so glad I did pick it up. I'm having so much fun with the game. While it can be frustrating and annoying at times, it's definitely fair and gives you plenty of paths to success. I'm not super far into the game but it is one of the most fun games to just explore and see what you can find. It's awesome having random bosses coming out of the woodwork and just taking a chance to see if you can beat them or getting murdered and then coming back later and walloping them.

This is the best early game rune farm that I know about.... don't even have to fight anything.

Looks like they patched it today. It isn't giving me any runes.

I really try not to do any farming in this game. I prefer to just explore and gather runes, that way. Farming runes early in the game seems like a new player's mentality. Once you get to late game, enemies can drop over 5K runes each.

But really, farming isn't fun, and I play to have fun.

Yup the game gives you PLENTY of opportunities for runes if you explore and do side dungeons. I played pretty thoroughly and I felt by mid to late game like I was over leveled for some of the areas. But some people like to farm and for that there are many opportunities to do so.

I just use the flask that lets you keep your runes down I don't have to worry about losing them. Bosses I just pop mimic then my flask to heal and protect my tubes for when I inevitably die.

Wow... the Godskin Duo in the Dragon Temple... **** those guys, lol.

However, after killing them, I just got a massive boost in DPS.

I wonder how many of the Dragon smithing stones there are in the game. I'd like to max out more than just one weapon. There are also still many areas I haven't been to, and I'm afraid of beating the game before going there. I'm assuming they are still ahead of where I am, but I would hate to happen into the main boss, beat it, and then not get to see the areas I missed. I know past games immediately ended upon beating the final bosses, making you immediately go to new game+.

I just beat Renalla (or however you spell it) last night at level 46 on my 7th attempt. That backdrop was beautiful! I kinda flew through the Raya Lucaria academy way faster than Stormveil.

I'm running a dex build with a +7 longbow, +7 Nagakibi, and +11 Uchigakatana. I'm really trying to level up the Nagakibi to take over the main hand for the uchigakatana. The range on the Nagakibi is insane and it hits like a truck with unsheathe!

FWIW the game does not force you to NG+ after killing the final boss. It gives you the choice.

So... I ended my night, last night, at the boss right before the final boss. Beat him in 2 tries when I started at 2pm, today. From then, i spent the next 4 hours on the final boss.

Jesus.... that took a while. Finally downed the final boss.

I'm going to go back out the the world, though, and finish exploring, before completing the game. There are still several places I want to go. I know there is still much of the subterranean world I need to explore.

I beat the fire giant tonight, is that close to the end? I said not yet at the grace after the giant, thinking that might start end stuff… want to explore more first before end.

No. You still have a whole other area to go through with multiple bosses.

Im at 105 hours in, level 120, 95+% of everything cleared in every zone that I can get to and am just about to start heading into Leyndell Royal Capital.

Hopefully some of the endgame areas live up to the hype because I have made myself a bit OP at the moment...

Noob here (again): I'm having a blast playing this game but I'm just kinda aimlessly exploring and killing foes and avoiding bosses (certain death). I'm not sure I'm really playing the game correctly because I don't really see the story progressing. Is there something I need to be trying to besides exploring new lands (finding the maps) and trying to level up?

From Software games always have ambiguous stories that are told through things in the world and small cut scenes/dialogue.

You should follow the directions the points of grace are pointing, if you want to push through the main story. Also, you should always talk to all the NPCs after doing anything substantial, like killing a main boss.

In Soulsborne games, main bosses generally involve a cut scene before the fight. If the boss does not have a cut scene, it is a lesser boss.

I wonder if this is how Dallas feels when reading about the rest of us running around with sorcerer builds summoning everything we can.

Lol... that's a great channel.

I'm definitely far from a gatekeeper of From games. My only rule is no cheesing a boss or rune/souls/blood echoes. I know people find cheese points where they just stand there and collect hundreds of thousands of some form of points to level. At that point, why even play the game?

I personally do not use summons or coop on my first play throughs, but I do use the Ashes in Elden Ring. I figure, if the game gives you a tool to use, then use it.

My favorite part of the video is:

Girl: Don't panic roll!
Guy: Are you serious?
Girl: I'm sorry
Guy: Boy I wish I knew that when I fought the Nameless King
Girl: I'm sorry
Guy: In my underwear.

Triple post time!

Every time I get a new trophy, I love looking at what percentage of players have earned it. I'm very curious as to what percentage actually get to some of the later game achievements, and what percentage just rage quit the game.

I've been doing the same... wanted to know how many actually took the time to kill some of these more optional bosses (Ranni questline, Fia, etc.) and where it seemed roadblocks popped up.

Not sure which one of y'all I'm friends with on PSN that's playing until 5am, but I keep starting up my Playstation and seeing notifications about trophies pop up for one of y'all as you get closer and closer to the end of the game.

I'm really glad they have summons in this game as like a option to lower the difficulty. I'm typically terrible at these games, I've only been able to get through Sekiro, and having these summons has been so nice.

Started about a week ago. About lvl 20 with Samurai, 1st souls game. Having a hard time not getting greedy and going for that extra hit that usually gets me smoked. Have been able to beat Magrit, but no one else substantial.
Honestly getting a bit frustrated and may farm some runes for an extra 10 levels or so.

I will say.... even over leveled, you need to still play very safe. That extra hit will always get you, in these games. Also, make sure you are varying your attack types, and not just spamming R2. The poise break mechanic in this game is extremely helpful. Also, debuffs like hemorrhage or frostbite are very powerful.

Also, @chase128: You beat Sekiro? I think that's the hardest From Software game I've played. If you can beat that, then you should be fine.

My experience with Soulsborne games is that sometimes I am just not ready to spend an hour learning a fight. When that happens, I hang it up for the evening, then come back to it the next day. Granted, with Elden Ring, I can usually go off and do something else, then come back.

Also, try this little trick out I have learned over the years: turn off your sound.

There are generally no audio clues you need to be listening for in these boss fights. I cannot tell you how much better I do on them without the loud bombastic boss fight music, and all the other sounds. Turning it off really lets me focus on my timing and doesn't get my anxiety going near as much.

I've literally struggled on a particular boss in the past, only to one shot him after turning my sound off. I can't remember who that was, but it blew my mind.

I dunno. Up to level 40, still can't beat anyone. I can appreciate all that's amazing here, but I think this one just ain't for me. Played for about 2 hours today and enjoyed none of it.

They aren't for everyone. I'm sure there are thousands of people who bought this game because of the hype, but end up walking away because of the difficulty.

It's too bad, because this game is definitely in my top 5 of all time.

I just completed the Ranni questline, today, a well as finally found my way into the Valcano Manor dungeon, which I completed.

Now, I'm just trying to find my way into the only area I don't have the map revealed. I just cannot find my way down there, and I'm getting close to just looking it up.

Open world games have been hit or miss for me. I loved Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Horizon Zero Dawn, but didn't care for a lot of others.

However, this is my favorite by far. The visuals and the game play are fantastic. I like that you don't have to earn or pay for the fast travel capability as well.

I feel pretty cheeky.

I was doing Malenia and it's a fairly challenging fight. Using Mimic since I don't feel confident enough to do these solo. You get punished pretty hard, usually one-shot, if you fail to avoid or mitigate their attacks. I have 52 Vigor and heavy armor (switched builds to Arcane/Faith/Dex recently instead of Mage).

After about 8 or 9 attemps of getting one-shot since I failed a single dodge, I started just spamming Swarm of Flies. Boss gets stun locked, blood loss, dead. Honestly, wasn't expecting that to be possible this late in the game. Kind of wish I could give it another go.

I haven't found how to even get to that area, yet.

Not going to complete the game, until I do. Struggling with just looking up how to get there, now.

Meant to respond to this sooner but yeah Sekiro just clicked for me. The parry mechanics (and Mikiri counters) I could handle way better than dodging/blocking/parrying in any other souls game.

I remember spending a couple hours on the first real Genichiro fight. That was my "get gud" moment, and after that I was rocking and rolling. I had such a blast.

Noob here (again): I have the Glinstone Arc spell as well as the Finger Seal. I've leveled up my stat to the required amount but when I Raul my seal and try to use the Glinstone Arc nothing happens. I'm bummed because I farmed tons of runes to use this magic. What am I doing wrong? I've memorized the spell at the point of grace
