Be ready for a significant jump on difficulty. The enemies get much harder in the mountains. I generally two shot the bats in the most recent areas, now it takes me 4-5 hits to take them down and they do much more damage.

Game is so fun. Best game since Witcher 3. Haven't been able to put it down. At level 100. Done a lot of additional exploring and optional bosses.

Just beat Radahn a few days ago. Next main boss up is Mt Volcano boss.

Oh good, something to look forward to once I stop getting my butt smacked around by the boss guarding the elevator.

Oh yeah.... those giant gargoyles are *****es. Took me several attempts. I rely on using my spear and doing jump attacks to break his poise. The important part is to NOT go for the crit, after the stagger. Just hit him a lot in the head.

There are certain enemies where a crit after the stagger actually does significantly less damage than just hitting him repeatedly on the head.

I killed him once I realized I had finally found the one somber stone in the chain I had been missing and upgraded my sword to +9

That flame pot whip guy was an a hole before the bridge.

Finished manor quest and went to see the lord… died haha.

Okay... made it to this fort and got to the boss. Ass hole summons two cold knights to wallop on you and I was getting punked. Only killed them both once, then died after getting the boss to half health.

Was getting pissed off, so decided to actually try some weapon ashes on my spear. First one I tried was the Glinstone Phalanx weapon ash.... killed the boss the next try. Holy *****.. this weapon ash is OP. Between this and my jump power attack, I immediately staggered both knights for instakills, and i staggered the boss twice during the fight.

The phalanx doesn't do a ton of damage, but it seems to do a hell of a lot of posture damage. This is my new spear ash of war, for sure.

Noob here: How do you add stuff from your inventory to the quick items shown on screen? For example: the item that summons the wolves to attack (I'd like that to be easier to access than digging in my inventory)

There's two quick access hotbars, or that's how I think of them:

The first is shown in the bottom left. That's usually where your flasks are. You cycle through the items pressing Down on the D-Pad, and you press Square (on PS5) to use them.
To assign stuff to that bar, go to the Equipment screen and below your Talismans there are two rows of items slots you can put stuff in for that hotbar.

The second hot bar is accessed by holding Triangle, then pressing Up, Down, Left, or Right on the D-Pad. To assign stuff to that hotbar you press "Start" then look on the top right of the screen. There should be 4 slots to assign stuff to a directional button. You can navigate over to that section of the menu by using your D-pad.

That took me a min too… you get there from the first menu that has inventory, equipment, crafting etc. instead of selecting one of those options on the left side of the screen go over to the right side where you'll see the pouch slots.

I think it shows eight slots… first four I know how to use, no idea how/if you can use second slots as quick actions.

Also, for the items bar, if you hold the down arrow, it takes you the ffirst slot. So you put your HP flask there, so you can get to it quickly, in a pinch.

I use the hold triangle quick access items for my mount, summon and some status things. I only really use my flasks and physik flask in my items slots.

Just read patch notes for update that just downloaded… that ash got nerfed.

Yup! Lol! It was way too strong.

I was doing 1000 damage per use before the nerf and it only cost 10 FP. Now it does about 500 damage after nerf.

It's still really useful though. It has a wide cone, cheap FP cost, and it still applies Frost status build up. I've got it on a curved sword that inherently also applies Bleed

So did the Sword of Night and Flame. I was in the process of building my character around that sword. It's still viable if you go the INT route, it's just not insanely OP like it was before.

I have 60 INT with +10 Sword of Night and Flame. It definitely does less damage after patch, but still melts faces very well. The only boss that has given me trouble post-patch is Mogh, Lord of Blood. Downed Godfrey and Morgott first try with my Mimic Tear summon tonight. Mogh took several attempts.

Sitting at around level 110 with 95+ percent of Limgrave, Lurnia of the Lakes, Caelid, and the Sofria River/Nokron/Underground areas cleared out of just about everything I could find outside of a random Hero Grave/random catacomb here or there.

Since I have been playing as a sorcerer I really wanted to complete the Ranni/Sellen questlines and went through all of those, as well as Fia's since it was part of the underground... too bad my Darkmoon Sword is sitting in my inventory since I don't have the strength to use it.

Nuts to think I am just now starting to work on Altus Plateu and may still have half or so of the game to do?

I do know my most hated boss type in this game: Ulcerated Tree Spirit. There's a hidden one towards the end of the one of the major underground areas that was nigh impossible for me to beat since it would routinely oneshot me and even the Comet Azur/Unlimited mana physiks flask cheese just put a small dent in him. Only way I finally got him down was by baiting him out, running away to find out they never aggroed on me, and plinked away at it with a bow from downtown for about 10 minutes. Not my proudest gaming achievement.

What's the best way to collect runes very early in the game (I think I'm a level 9)? Just run around and collect flowers and kill baddies?

Destroy the glowing skulls on the ground and then "use" the runes you pick up. Explore and kill things.

Even at level 110ish I still make sure to zig and zag over these things while on the horse to pick them up. Every little bit helps.

The Ulcerated Tree Spirit has to be a joke boss. It clips through walls and the player constantly. I tried hitting the thing from far away until I realized the arena was tiny and the thing was huge. Then I just stood next to it, clipped inside of its body constantly, and just pounded potions and swung my sword until it died. All I could see the entire time was rainbow pixels on my screen. I was nearly crying from laughter the entire time when I realized that blindly swinging my sword while the boss clipped everything was how to beat it.

There is a really really easy method of grinding out 1000 runes per kill. Go to the 3rd church if marika in Limgrave. Go due north into the lake and then to the right in the lake where you will find a portal. The portal takes you to Greyoll's Dragonbarrow in part of Caelid. There are guards wondering around there that you can kill. Each guard gives you 1000 runes and you can kill them at around level 15 or so. They are spread out enough that you can go one on one easily.

You can level up very fast doing this at the beginning.

Yeah, I tried that strategy but learned the hard way my vigor was too low to do that without dying from a single hit. After I hit 60 int and 30 mind I finally started working on getting my vigor up past 20 and am focusing on getting it up to 30 now.

This is another good strat. I head to this area when I'm close-ish to leveling up and want to explore/take on a boss without worrying about my runes.

As a mage, figuring out how much to level up your Vigor to keep from getting one-shotted as you progress is pretty helpful.

Also, getting the physick mixture which almost completely negates a single attack is really useful.

Yeah, I went full glass canon build with probably 20 vigor, a ton of Int, +9 Lusat Staff, and the no mana use/increased magic damage physick. When it works, it works pretty well. When it doesn't...

Lol that's even better. Not sure I could do that over and over though.

Also that method of killing the boss is funny as hell.

I found that spot completely by accident and was running down the hill after completing the nearby tower. Had 50k+ runes on me and died by that stupid ball after it spawned behind me. Ran back to try to grab my runes, thought I had picked them up while on the horse, missed, ball ran me over and killed me again. I haven't gone back to that hill since.

That's how I use these rune farming areas, too. Just bump me to the next level before I go exploring a new area.

Anyway, there's a fantastic place to get runes for mid-game characters and beyond. That ball rolling area becomes too tedious once you start needing 30k or more runes per level.

If you want to get there, here's how:

When you do the invade part of this quest, you can just leave as soon as you enter the other player's world. You don't have to kill them.

Also, doing the snipe thing to lure the big bird off the cliff I don't believe works anymore for easy runes, but just killing the frog men by the cliffside grace is super easy and gets a ton of runes still.

I killed the bird just last night and got my usual 13k (extra 20% with some talisman - can't remember the name of it)

Ok cool. I thought they patched that bird's pathing so it wouldn't run off the cliff. Guess not! haha
