Okay okay, took another shot at the ghost boss in capital and killed him tonight… currently fighting the guy after him hoping that will let me into the NE corner!
Be ready for a significant jump on difficulty. The enemies get much harder in the mountains. I generally two shot the bats in the most recent areas, now it takes me 4-5 hits to take them down and they do much more damage.bbattbq01 said:

Oh yeah.... those giant gargoyles are *****es. Took me several attempts. I rely on using my spear and doing jump attacks to break his poise. The important part is to NOT go for the crit, after the stagger. Just hit him a lot in the head.bbattbq01 said:DallasTeleAg said:Be ready for a significant jump on difficulty. Oh good, something to look forward to once I stop getting my butt smacked around by the boss guarding the elevator.
There's two quick access hotbars, or that's how I think of them:easttexasaggie04 said:
Noob here: How do you add stuff from your inventory to the quick items shown on screen? For example: the item that summons the wolves to attack (I'd like that to be easier to access than digging in my inventory)

Just read patch notes for update that just downloaded… that ash got nerfed.

I have 60 INT with +10 Sword of Night and Flame. It definitely does less damage after patch, but still melts faces very well. The only boss that has given me trouble post-patch is Mogh, Lord of Blood. Downed Godfrey and Morgott first try with my Mimic Tear summon tonight. Mogh took several attempts.BAP Enthusiast said:bbattbq01 said:chase128 said:

So did the Sword of Night and Flame. I was in the process of building my character around that sword. It's still viable if you go the INT route, it's just not insanely OP like it was before.

What's the best way to collect runes very early in the game (I think I'm a level 9)? Just run around and collect flowers and kill baddies?
Even at level 110ish I still make sure to zig and zag over these things while on the horse to pick them up. Every little bit helps.zip04 said:easttexasaggie04 said:

Destroy the glowing skulls on the ground and then "use" the runes you pick up. Explore and kill things.
go farm the guys near the gatefront site of grace. north of the church of elleh i think.zip04 said:easttexasaggie04 said:

Sitting at around level 110 with 95+ percent of Limgrave, Lurnia of the Lakes, Caelid, and the Sofria River/Nokron/Underground areas cleared out of just about everything I could find outside of a random Hero Grave/random catacomb here or there.
Since I have been playing as a sorcerer I really wanted to complete the Ranni/Sellen questlines and went through all of those, as well as Fia's since it was part of the underground... too bad my Darkmoon Sword is sitting in my inventory since I don't have the strength to use it.
Nuts to think I am just now starting to work on Altus Plateu and may still have half or so of the game to do?
I do know my most hated boss type in this game: Ulcerated Tree Spirit. There's a hidden one towards the end of the one of the major underground areas that was nigh impossible for me to beat since it would routinely oneshot me and even the Comet Azur/Unlimited mana physiks flask cheese just put a small dent in him. Only way I finally got him down was by baiting him out, running away to find out they never aggroed on me, and plinked away at it with a bow from downtown for about 10 minutes. Not my proudest gaming achievement.

Yeah, I tried that strategy but learned the hard way my vigor was too low to do that without dying from a single hit. After I hit 60 int and 30 mind I finally started working on getting my vigor up past 20 and am focusing on getting it up to 30 now.BAP said:
The Ulcerated Tree Spirit has to be a joke boss. It clips through walls and the player constantly. I tried hitting the thing from far away until I realized the arena was tiny and the thing was huge. Then I just stood next to it, clipped inside of its body constantly, and just pounded potions and swung my sword until it died. All I could see the entire time was rainbow pixels on my screen. I was nearly crying from laughter the entire time when I realized that blindly swinging my sword while the boss clipped everything was how to beat it.
This is another good strat. I head to this area when I'm close-ish to leveling up and want to explore/take on a boss without worrying about my runes.BAP Enthusiast said:
There is a really really easy method of grinding out 1000 runes per kill. Go to the 3rd church if marika in Limgrave. Go due north into the lake and then to the right in the lake where you will find a portal. The portal takes you to Greyoll's Dragonbarrow in part of Caelid. There are guards wondering around there that you can kill. Each guard gives you 1000 runes and you can kill them at around level 15 or so. They are spread out enough that you can go one on one easily.
You can level up very fast doing this at the beginning.
Yeah, I went full glass canon build with probably 20 vigor, a ton of Int, +9 Lusat Staff, and the no mana use/increased magic damage physick. When it works, it works pretty well. When it doesn't...chase128 said:
As a mage, figuring out how much to level up your Vigor to keep from getting one-shotted as you progress is pretty helpful.
Also, getting the physick mixture which almost completely negates a single attack is really useful.

This is the best early game rune farm that I know about.... don't even have to fight anything.
I found that spot completely by accident and was running down the hill after completing the nearby tower. Had 50k+ runes on me and died by that stupid ball after it spawned behind me. Ran back to try to grab my runes, thought I had picked them up while on the horse, missed, ball ran me over and killed me again. I haven't gone back to that hill since.BAP Enthusiast said:TriumphForks said:

Lol that's even better. Not sure I could do that over and over though.
Also that method of killing the boss is funny as hell.
