Shotgun with 50% more damage vs robots. Bring it.

Really liking the DLC so far. New concrete buildings and settlements full of tame deathclaws are awesome

While those are nice I tend to avoid any exploding bullet weapon. The explosions tend to blow away loot indoors, sometimes clipping it through walls or under tiny cracks under objects.

But the Spray n' Pray is so fun when you're facing a horde of ghouls.

I found the garden plot under Resources -> Miscellaneous. Isn't there supposed to be a rad remover somewhere?

I just logged on toady and WHAM! my weight went from 400 something to 2200 something. Ammo, including fusion cells, now has weight. Also, it warned that if I switched from survival mode, I would not be able to switch back

Started new from survival mode. That deathclaw suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. Only able to beat it when it glitched underground...made me restart like 4 times...MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHERE A BED IS

Bob, what style of character are you going for? High on endurance? Melee, pistol, long gun?
AggieBob08

Pistol. I can't see melee working on survival...

After that first mission I need to have a sustainable food and water source before I can go anywhere else. And even then you need a network of water/food/beds to explore very far.

the lack of fast travel turned me off of survival mode

I tried survival for a couple of hours this weekend, but I'm done with it. It's just too tedious to worry about food, water, antibiotics, and sleep all of the time. The one hit kills from the Raiders using molotovs isn't fun either.

Same here. I was super stoked about survival....until I actually played it. Tried a fresh start and got to sanctuary. My very first nap there I got a sickness out of nowhere that ticked off a quarter of my life every 20 seconds. There was nothing that could be done. I needed an antidote but my character did not have enough skill points to make my own and the only other option is to get to a trader that sells them. I never made it close to one. That was so damn unfair it completely killed the concept for me. That was the beta. I uninstalled the beta and went back to playing normal.

Went about a week break from it and then fired it up and when I started I weighed about 2500 lbs.

They did not separate the two games modes. I play on survival but they decided to just overwrite that completely with the new version. Also pissed me off. Why could they not just have made it a hardcore mode and kept survival the same? Now I am stuck playing on very hard which with the fast heal speed is even more ridiculously easy for me. They kinda dropped the ball on that one for me.

But overall I am back to grinding away on the game.

I'm close to finishing Dragons Age inquisition (don't judge - I'm old and have multiple things going on). Should I take on Fallout 4 or No Mans sky next?

Far Harbor... Is it worth it?

Yep. The Island is huge. And as soon as you start talking to people you get quest upon quest upon quest. I'm about 10 hours in and still haven't finished the main quest because of all the side quests. It's a fast way to level up too as some of those quests give around 600 XP with 9 intelligence. Some of the enemies you'll face make you go WTF the first time you see them. And there are new settlements scattered throughout the island too.

I would also recommend being at least level 40 or so. Some things hit very hard and have tons of health. I have a gauss rifle that hits for over 500 damage and it was like a pellet gun to one certain enemy. I have 150 fusion cores so I just explore in power armor the whole time.

One of the vendors in Far Harbor (the DLC not the location in the DLC) sells a lever-action version of Overseer's Guardian(two shot modifier), and it's my new favorite weapon.

Any gun with exploding shells pretty much breaks the game. I just found one in the DLC that is one of the radium rifles and fully upgraded it is a death machine.

Any automatic with exploding and a gauss rifle with 2x damage makes you pretty much unstoppable...except when you forget that exploding bullets work both ways and shouldn't be used in a close proximity encounter.

Just re-started the game using survival mode. Impressed myself by taking out the Deathclaw on the first try. Granted, I ran around like a little girl taking pot shots and running into buildings, but it died. But then I died a few minutes after saving when I stumbled into a raider and his dog. Freaking dog one-shot me.

Good advice for rocket launchers as well, not that I've ever done that.

"Odd, why did my shotgun sound like I launched a mini-nuke?".

LOL. I like how it looks and sounds like depth chargers are going off when you fire any gun with exploding bullets into the water. It too me a bit to figure out why the hell I was creating huge explosions of water before I realized what was happening.

I made the mistake of trying to defend a settlement using an explosive minigun. I think I killed about a half dozen settlers.

The last play through I started, my very first legendary weapon was an explosive double barrel shotgun. I got it off a legendary radroach within the first hour of the game. It was awesome.

I've started over on survival too. Its a whole lot slower approach to the game, but I am enjoying it. Settlement building is critical. I've got Preston and the survivors back to Sanctuary, and it is coming along, but I need more food sources to really get me going.

IS there anything you can put water in that is reusable? Bottles seem to disappear when you drink the water out of them,

Haven't found anything yet. I built a large water purifier, so I'm hoping to get excess from that.

Yeah, I just did that too. I think it will work out. IF not, I guess I'll just build some more.

So, how does it work? Choose from mods within the game? Or in the Xbox store?

First off, go to Bethesda.net and create an account. Then once your copy of Fallout 4 is updated on the Xbox which is about a 400 mb update, you will see MODS in the main start menu under ADD-ONS. A sign in prompt comes up for your Bethesda.net account and you sign in. Then you get to the mods page where you can pick out mods from different categories. Download them, rate, and you can choose to activate or unactivate them just like the Skyrim mods for PC. Looks like there's a 2 GB limit on mods to download.

You can also access your mods on Bethesda.net. Download a creation tool as well to make your own Mods (somebody make some Texas A&M Football Armor!!!!)
