Yeah, Far Harbor, maybe, but considering I thought this was the weakest offerings of Fallout or Elder Scrolls in quite some time, I think I'll be passing.

60 bucks for all of that?! Wow.

When did y'all start wearing power armor over regular armor?

Does regular stack with lower, or any of the legendary effects?

I never actually started wearing power armor; so much easier just to armor up regularly and hit the wasteland. The game gets easy enough as it goes on anyway.

Once I got ballistic weave, I only used power armor when I needed the rad resistance or the jet pack.

I started wearing power armor as soon as I could. I like role playing as a BOS character, and you become ridiculously OP(even on survival).

Nothing you wear under your power armor stacks.

Maybe weight?

I've been wearing the combat armor +mods, but I was thinking some of the perks you could get with the power armor are pretty decent. Just not sure it's worth it.

Installing FO4 on my new system now. I'm happy.

Made my first bot today, picked up the mission and pretty much jumped in to creating one right away. I'm sure you can unlock more mods later, the options I had to start off were pretty limited.

This is OddJob, a Protectron body on a Mr. Gutsy jet booster, with a hammer on one hand for melee, and a sniper laser on the other for long shots.

I'm about to head into the actual story line. So far so good.

So finally took a gander at the new survival mode that is being planned. All I can say is wow. It might be the thing that saves the game for me.

My main issue with Fallout 4 is how quickly you scale up and the lack of meaningful content. Been playing on Survival mode since minute one and never really had any issues with it being difficult. By level 30 I was taking on the level 50 enemies with glee. By level 50 I was bored with it and stopped playing once I hit level 60. In short there was no challenge to it whatsoever. I am a FO fanatic and have played them all so I guess I just knew which build to make from the start to powerhouse.

But this....this new Survival Mode has me incredibly excited. It is literally a game changer where so many unused and unimportant things now become important. Leadbelly perk could actually be useful now instead of a complete waste? You actually have to plan out incursions into the Wastes? Routes, supplies, allies, likely enemies, safe houses....it could all actually matter now!

Here it is but format can be hard to read sorta.

quote:
Is the struggle of this world merely a pleasant game for you? Do you long for a more brutal take on a life lived post apocalypse?
If you answered "Yes and yes!", then Survival difficulty is for you!
Survival upends many of the rules of life in the Commonwealth for maximum challenge. For a full list of these changes, see below.
To enable Survival, press [Pause], select "Settings," then "Gameplay" and choose "Survival" from the "Difficulty" options.
Saving
Manual and quicksaving are disabled. To save your game, you'll need to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour.
Combat
Combat is more lethal for everyone. You now deal, but also take, more damage. You can increase the damage you deal even further with "Adrenaline" (see below).
Fast Travel
Fast Travel is disabled. If you wish to be somewhere, you'll have to physically travel there.
Weighted Ammo
Bullets and shells now all have a small amount of weight, which varies by caliber. Heavier items such as fusion cores, rockets, and mini-nukes can really drag you down.
Compass
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled, as enemies will no longer appear on your compass. As well, the distance at which locations of interest will appear has been significantly shortened.
Adrenaline
Survival automatically grants the Adrenaline perk, which provides a bonus to your damage output. Unlike other perks, the only way to increase your rank of the Adrenaline perk is by getting kills (hostile or otherwise). The higher your Adrenaline rank, the higher the damage bonus. Sleeping for more than an hour, however, will cause your Adrenaline rank to lower. You can check your current Adrenaline rank at any time in the Perks section on the Stat tab in your Pip-Boy.
Wellness
You'll find it difficult to survive without taking proper care of yourself. You must stay hydrated, fed, and rested to remain combat-ready. Going for extended periods of time without food, water, or sleep will begin to adversely affect your health, hurting your SPECIAL stats, adding to your Fatigue (see "Fatigue" below), lowering your immunity (see "Sickness" below), and eventually even dealing physical damage to you.
Fatigue
Fatigue works like radiation but affects your Action Points (AP) rather than your Hit Points (HP). The more Fatigue you've built up, the less AP you'll have for other actions. The amount of Fatigue you've accumulated is displayed in red on your AP bar.
Sickness
A comprised immune system and a few questionable decisions can end up getting you killed. Eating uncooked meat, drinking unpurified water, taking damage from disease-ridden sources, such as ghouls and bugs, or using harmful Chems all put your body at increased risk for various ill effects. When you are afflicted with an illness, a message will appear onscreen. You can view specifics about your current illnesses by navigating to the Status section on your Pip-Boy's Data tab and pressing [RShoulder] to view your active effects.
Antibiotics
Antibiotics, which can be crafted at Chem Stations or purchased from doctors, heal the various effects of sickness.
Bed Types
The type of bed you're sleeping in determines the length of time you are able to stay asleep. A sleeping bag will save your game and may help save your life when you're desperate, but it will never allow for a full night's rest and the benefits that come with it.
Crippled Limbs
Crippled limbs will no longer auto-heal after combat and will remain crippled until healed by a Stimpak.
Carry Weight
Exceeding your carry weight reduces your Endurance and Agility stats and periodically damages your legs and health. Think of your back!
Companions
Companions will no longer automatically get back up if downed during combat and will return home if abandoned without being healed.
Enemy and Loot Repopulation
Locations you've cleared will now repopulate enemies and loot at a significantly slower rate.

All in all I love the idea and hope this can give a true survival type mode for this game.

True survival would be a hardcore mode where if you die that's it. Now that would be a challenge!

The saving disable is pretty good, but they need to reduce the frequency of beds/sleeping bags in the world.

Aid loot should be harder to find.

Mostly they are adding additional ways to lose health through fatigue and sickness. There are already plenty of ways to die.

You will still get to a point where you have 100s of stimpaks/antibiotics, great weps, save points everywhere and the game is easy again.

But if you're out of meds, radiation is high, low health, and if you die, your character is dead? That would be a whole other level to the game.

Looks like we have a release date for Survival mode as a beta on Steam sometime next week.

I'm stoked for it. I love all the restrictions that actually make you contemplate your actions. Mixing Stalker with Fallout. Running around with 4000 bullets I always thought was kinda ridiculous. Now you have to decide what to take with you on your incursions into the wastelands. Plus bases become so much more important now. I can see it being a struggle to slowly build up your empire bit by bit. Love the idea and I think it will add a much needed element for the hardcore players and their desire to have replayability.

I'm getting the beta for sure and going to start over a whole new character with it. The thought of being pinned to your first settlement as you slowly gather your resources and strength before you start slowly expanding has me all sorts of excited. I am viewing this as a bloody struggle building up your empire, but as a mortal man and not a demi-god. I love games that aren't gimmes and it's a constant struggle to grow and prosper.

My go-to heavy hitter is a heavily upgraded assault rifle (a legendary one that fires 2 shots). I never really mess with missile launchers or other heavy weps.

Just shoot off their legs first thing. Then they just crawl after you.

I still have not beat the game but I just completed the Mechanist expansion on survival. Lvl 62. Part of it is repetitive but part of me does not want it to end.

I have an assault rifle with exploding shells, similar to Spray n Pray. Really nice that the explosive damage is modified by perks, too.
