Ug, Children of the Atom kick my ass. Too much rad damage too fast. Any advice?

on a cool note, I ran across a 4 way battle between gunners, raiders, children, and super mutants. I was picking mist of them off from the side when a suicider ended th main battle.

Had a similar episode between ghouls, raiders, and a BOS copter.

did I also read to where you can reduce the weight of weapons/armor by dropping them in the pip-boy, storing them in the workshop, and then retrieving it from said workshop?

I don't think that reduces their weight but I think it will actually increase the build cap for the settlement. Spmeone more versed would have to explain it as I am not sure how it works but it isn't recommended to do too often, especially on consoles, because it will overload the system.

What is the population cap for each settlement?

That slightly lowers your size each time. Do it enough and you've effectively raised the cap and can build bigger settlements. No effect on item weight.

Didn't have time to search all of the thread, but does anyone else have big problems with corrupt save files? It seems like only my quick saves actually save but when I go to play my normal saves always say corrupt file.

Yes, all the time. I save three times every time I go to turn it off. When I go to load the last one is always corrupt.

Are you guys on console? With the corrupt saves?

Never had one on PC

Yes. I've regretted not getting it on PC, but couldn't justify upgrading my video card for one game. I don't get to game much with a family, work, and school.

No corrupt files (yet?) for me on PS4.

Yep, have had corrupt files twice on the Xbox now. Always keep a minimum of 4 saves and save multiple times when I'm quitting for the day.

Ran into this same problem. Died probably 15 or 20 times. I tried all different combat strategies.

Finally had enough, went and got power armor suit, modded it for Rad resistance and took my combat shotgun and went to work. Killed every last one of them and continued pumping their corpses full of buckshot until they exploded. It was a nasty scene.

Also, my first major complaint about the game, the companion AI is absolutely horrible. I have been playing with just dogmeat, but decided to take Piper on a mission to goodneighbor.

First of all, since I lost my lone wanderer perk, I had to give her a ton of **** to carry (this included 25 stealth boys). DO NOT GIVE COMPANIONS STEALTH BOYS UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO USE THEM. As we were walking through the streets of Boston I engaged a building full of raiders. I was going about clearing it with Piper no where in sight. Meanwhile gunfire erupts in a building next door and she has apparently aggro'd super mutants. Not that big of a deal after I dispense with the Raiders I go next door and take out super mutants, still no sign of Piper.

I continue on to goodneighbor (had not found it yet so couldn't fast travel. When I find it, Piper says something, I spin around looking for her and can not find her. After a few seconds of searchin,I find that she is ****ing invisible. Hoping it is just a glich, I enter goodneighbor. After the greeting, i turn around to find piper, fully visible now. When I go to trade with her I see she only has 2 stealth boys left.

I immediately fast traveled home and got all my stuff back from her, left her with only a right leg combat armor that I equipped over her red trench coach so that she was left in her panties, and dismissed her ass back to Diamond City. Wish I could have had one of my settlers follow her with the Shame Bell from GoT.

I'm thinking about building a wall placing them on top for all to see. A dark warning for raiders/mutants that are feeling froggy.

I only bring it up here, because I don't want my friends to think I'm some kind of savage. I I just tell them I'm a humble farmer/builder who's retired from life in the wasteland.

I think they dead bodies may disappear after a while. I tried this in Hangman's Alley. I had a pile of dead raiders, stripped down to undies, several missing limbs and heads, some in compromising degrading positions, all near the entrance. One day I came back and they were all gone.

Now the ghouls in sunshine Co op, those ****er stay around forever. I have finally moved them all into my settlers beds. I lmao every time I visit at night and settlers are curled up next to stinking rotting ghoul corpses.

I really think with a little programming this game could log all the crazy **** you do and generate a full psychological report on yourself.

Haven't fought them yet but would the hazmat suit work?

Maybe Bethesda is working on a test to identify synths.

Technically, the hazmat suit will prevent radiation damage. Not sure if it would from a weapon - assume it would.

Best thing is to have leaded protection on all regular armor and power armor. Can get plenty of lead from killing raiders. The perk to be able to fast travel when encumbered is helpful.

Why would there ever be a situation where you'd need to carry 25 stealth boys at one time? Drop that stuff off at home and keep one or two handy for emergencies. Enjoy the extra 23 pounds you can carry.

(That goes for all the extra aid you may be carrying too. Nobody needs 30 jet, buffout, mentats, etc, nor do you need all those deathclaw steaks. Keep multiple containers back home and categorize them for all your extra stuff. You can always come back and refresh your supplies of you ever run low on something.)

Hell just transfer that extra stuff into your workbench. It will still be there when you get back to home base and you can pick up what you might need then.

Mine was choppy, and I downloaded the updates and started from a previous save. No issues any longer.

So much this.

All that little stuff starts to add up. I was going to take the strong back perk to get some extra carrying ability but realized if you actually take a little time every now and then to manage your inventory, that you really dont need it. Same thing with weapons, you dont need to carry that fatman around with only two nukes that you are never going to use because you only have 2 nukes. I roll with about 6 or 7 guns, the clothing/armor im already wearing and a few chems and thats it. leaving the base I'm usually around 150/260 weight so I can grab plenty of stuff that catches my eye. 25 stealth boys, good lord.......

However strongback fully leveled is a great way to get a ton of caps. When you can clear a place of bad guys then strip everything of value and be 100 or 200lbs overweight and still fast travel... It's pretty awesome.

Yeah, points taken. I need to do some cleaning up on my Aid, Mods, and Misc inventory. I do a good job with weapons and armor but have neglected those other ones because weights are typically so low, but I guess it definitely adds up. Just haven't wanted to spend the time but you guys are right, carrying around 25 stealth boys, 8 death claw steaks, 49 rad x, etc is totally unnecessary.

For those of you playing on Spectacle Island, just found out you can remove the panel from the boat and just place it right at the building in the center. No need to leave the trees that have the power line. Cool thing is that the panel itself produces 20 power. Gotta be some alien tech or something.

Very true, but it becomes extremely important in a game like Fallout because of the need to pick up so much junk. Carry limits don't sneak up on you... they punch you in the mouth every ten minutes.

For me this holds true as well, EXECEPT for stimpacks, rad x, and rad away.

I try to carry at least one gun of each damage type, plus some sort of long range weapon (usually beefed up .50 cal sniper rifle)

Dogmeat holds on to my hazmat suit, fat man, and any legendary items I cannot scrap.

I'm not 100% diligent on this but definitely getting better.

I did level up on the perks that allow me to scrap more items/materials from guns and armor and that's helped a lot with mods and settlement stuffs
