I dont think she's truly aligned with them, like they wont get mad if you take her out. I just was reading through some of the computers in the institute and one of them had an informant list on who provided the institute with information about escaped synths etc. she was definitely on it.

Trashcan Carla isn't a synth. I tried to persuade her into giving me money when we first met, then she just kept saying I would have to shoot her to get anything from her every time she was in Sanctuary after that. Got pretty annoying after awhile.

...She was shot right outside of Sanctuary by an unknown hooligan. Pretty crappy loot for a vendor and no synth parts or documents.

How do I know you arent a synth and trying to cover for her!? Maybe I should make sure something unfortunate happens to her in my game as well just to be sure....

If the end-game is some sort of Matrix meets Inception meets 6th Sense you're going to be like King of the Nerds.

Not sure if it's been posted earlier, but found a way to make the multiple stacks of foundations line up. Up to this point I've been trying to eyeball it.

Use the floor piece that has the staircase linking two floors. Snap it to your existing foundation, and depending on how you snapped it, the foundation above or below will line up.

Do you have to be Railroad to get the ballistic weave? Is it possible to go through the Railroad long enough to get the weave then switch factions?

I want to do BoS, but the ballistic weave is pretty OP from what I'm reading.

Random weird question. If I build a floor and walls, then decide I don't like it and store it in the workshop......

1. If I need wood for something, can I use the walls and floors as mats?

2. If I DO use them as mats, let's say something has wood AND steel. Will the steel get stored or will it just destroy my walls for the wood?

You have two options when getting rid of a building component.

Option 1: You store it (Tab). It stores the whole item; when you scroll through the various building items, you'll see a number below the item if there are any of those stored.

Option 2: You scrap it (R). This will break it down into components, but you only get a small portion back. The foundation blocks take concrete and wood, and you only get 6 wood back when you scrap it.

One thing I'm not sure of is whether stored items are shared across settlements or not.

I tried storing some turrets from Sanctuary to use at the island last night and they weren't numbered on the tab, so I don't think stored items can be used at other settlements unfortunately

There's no spoilers in that. Heck the BoS was in the trailers.

That's funny

Based on the direction they pointed it they wanted to blow up the house, they expected the explosion. Just not that close

That's freaking awesome. Looked like a demonstration on how invincible companions are and ended up as a demonstration of how lethal playing with acetylene tanks can be.

I'm disappointed that it doesn't show the part where he asks his companion to hold his beer.

i finally fought Swan ... For those of you that have fought him ... We're you a little underwhelmed by the encounter? Level 14 and I took him down with about 10 shots maybe.

Yea he really wasn't too bad. I fought him really early in the game before I had legit weapons and still took him down without dying due to buffs

All the huge bosses like the Super Behemoths(Swan was one BTW way), Mirelark Queens are all really easy. Like most boos fights in games. Find the pattern and it is easy to find the weak spots. Oh and have terrain I guess. If you can put even one tree or something like that those bosses are nothing. In the Open I guess it would suck.

I have a MUCH harder time fighting mobs of withered Ghouls mixed with glowing ones. Or various mirelurks.

Go for the legs. They just flail around until you get around to finishing them off, or the dog finishes munching on them. Just ran into a Mirelurk Queen and it worked there too. It was sort of unsatisfying compared to trying to kill her with a missile launcher.

I sniped him 4 times with a pipe bolt action .308 drop a mini nuke on him as he started moving my way, then pumped some .45 rounds from combat rifle. Only playing on Hard difficulty, not survival or anything, no chems, no even really using the terrain.

Only thing I can think of is that my .308 is silenced and I was in sneak mode, so I was still in "Caution" when he moved toward me and I popped him with the Fat Man ... I may have gotten a stealth modifier for the Fat Man.. possibly? That all brought him down pretty low then the combat rifle worked wonders.

Oddly enough ... I had heard about him, but I really ended up stumbling upon him while look for the Railroad (probably pretty common) so it wasn't like I was out to get him, just kind of happened.

Popping off the legs of ghouls is tremendous fun! Especially if you can hit them when they are charging full speed at you!

Has anyone run into any problems with clearing an area too early then needing it for a quest? I just finished walking to the castle and found A LOT of buildings but didn't clear any for fear of it bugging a quest down the road...... I did kill some named people, Mr and Mrs something? Some gouls just outside the Irish Bar.

By far my far my favorite thing to do is snipe an enemy with my .50 cal rifle and send them flying off the edge of something and watch the XP get collected when they hit the ground.

I have read that the Mr and Mrs Named Ghouls correspond to your former neighbors pre-war in Sanctuary ... supposedly you can see their names on the mail boxes... my understanding is that there is no quest associated, just a purely random encounter.

I actually came across a guy named Art holding himself up ... I had no idea what was going on but based on the dialogue it sounded like one of the Art's were a synth so I shot the one with the gun ... no synth parts, walked up to the other guy to get some info and he just wanted to be left alone ... he turns a corner and is blasted by Gunners. I search him ... synth parts ... I killed the wrong Art ... I am hoping there are no quest with that further along.

There isn't, you're fine. I had that random encounter too and by the sounds of it I picked the wrong guy cause when I looted the one that got shot there wasn't any synth components. Crap, now there's another synth out there. Next time I'm not taking any chances and shooting both.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but are ALL of the 4 factions (Minutemen, BOS, Railroad, Institute) ultimately incongruent with each other? Or are there groups of factions that I could pledge to and go all the way with simultaneously?
agfan2013
How long do you want to ignore this user?

At some point you have to decide between brotherhood, institute, and railroad. They all are not fans of each other by the end. Minutemen are kind of on their own and you can still be a member of them and of one of the main 3.

It actually helps in my experience. I've cleared buildings and gotten certain items which instantly completes a mission when I get it later. Happened to me 2-3 times now. The shishkebob and a locket were the item quests. Another was just a clear

The named ghouls are part of a minor side quest. You can still do the quest since it is activated elsewhere but you have changed it by killing them.

One thing that has happened a few times is that I need to do a quest for faction X, and the area currently controlled by faction Y. Since I'm friendly with everything right now, I was just strolling through them. I assumed they were supposed to be there, so I spent a good 30 to 45 minutes trying to figure out what the quest wanted me to do in order to get to the next step in the quest. Turns out, I had to kill everything, but it didn't affect my rep with faction Y. I'm going to try to get through as much of each faction before making the choice. I was reading that when the time comes, there's a pop up that will alert you that you're passing the point of no return. Can anyone here confirm that?

Hmmm ... did not know that ... everything I saw said it was just a random encounter ... learn something new everyday ... where is the quest activated?
